Taemin (from SHINee) 'Danger'

taemin is genuinely my all time favorite kpop artist

Also on a completely unrelated side note, listening to you playing around with the chord progressions on the piano is reminding me of my childhood. Growing up in Japan, my dad used to work long hours at the office and there were periods where I didn't see much of him, but on the weekends and some evenings he would often sit down at our electric piano and practice or just de-stress by playing chord progressions. (He "mained" (lol game term) the flute and even played jazz flute in college, but he could also play jazz piano and also got into synths later on) I fondly remember laying on the couch reading, putting together puzzles, or doing homework especially as a young teen while listening to him doodle away with chords, it was such a slow, warm, relaxed, "in the moment" kind of feeling. Thanks for bringing that memory and feeling to the surface. <3

I was going to say right away on the first listen when you said "Michael Jackson", I immediately thought Smooth Criminal vibes. 20ish years ago in college I took a summer term dance class from a teacher who had danced with the Alvin Ailey dance company, and we learned her choreography to Smooth Criminal! It was very fun and quite a break from the styles I was learning at the time.

i think another cool video to watch to bounce off of this one is a cover that the group The Boyz performed of this song on the competition show called Kingdom, it’s very impressive how they turned a one person song into a twelve person performance and pulled it off flawlessly!!

Thank you Tim for watching my video before your reaction! It was also interesting to learn about how the male voice changes and how it affects their singing. Also thanks for catching the line about Taemin having no creative input in Danger. And like you said in your reaction it was all about debuting a badass man compared to when he debuted as a child in SHINee. Next time we will see what happens as Taemin takes creative control of his music. And just note on my intro video: SM wouldn’t let their artists in groups go solo until their group went on hiatus. Technically Henry Lau from Super Junior-M was the first SM artist to go solo while their group was still active but the group wasn’t promoting new music while he went solo. Taemin debuted in August of 2014 and in SHINee released their 3rd Japanese album in September so Taemin had to promo both albums around the same time.
