'IRIS OUT'-Kenshi Yonezu (LIVE-76th NHK Kouhaku Performance)

Kouhaku isn't just a show, it's also a competition! Its full title is Kouhaku Uta Gassen ("Red/White Song Battle"). Artists are split into two teams, with the red team composed of female artists (or groups with female lead vocals) and the white team composed of male artists/lead vocals. They mostly do recent hits, but they usually do at least one enka song (genre based in traditional Japanese music) and recently they've been inviting more k-pop groups. The vote is split between three groups: guest judges, people at the live concert, and people watching from home. Whichever team gets the majority vote in at least 2 of the 3 groups wins. White team (with Yonezu Kenshi!) won this past year.

This live performance is from a Japanese channel called NHK and they will invite different jpop singers to perform their hit songs of the year and to celebrate together on every New Year’s Eve. So you can see this performance is very joyful and fun to watch.
