my favorite part of the song Out For Love is the little metal clink sound that happens when Carmilla is walking
fun side note: all of the demons in the show have a sigil for their name, including Lucifer. During the intro, and the outro, there is the red background and it has a sigil on it, which is Charlie's sigil, a combination of Lilith and Lucifer's sigil.
Rosies/cannibal towns aesthetic is inspired by Hello Dolly. Another interesting theme about the show is circus stuff. That's a theme in all of Vivziepops stuff. Lots of circus music, circus tents, clowns, puppets, ect. everywhere. Thats why Charlie and Lucifer look like clowns and the wallpaper/windows of the Hotel have circus tents in places.
It also goes deeper into it when you look at the helluva boss stuff were each sin kinda represents a different circus act
You may just get a teensy tiny glimpse into that deranged mind of Alastor’s next episode 😉
I love your chaotic reactions
Something others haven't mentioned, while Susan is heckling Charlie, there is a subtle reference to the Pilot that was very quick. You really should watch the Pilot before moving on to Season 2, just to have some of the references. (There will be more) But in this case, she sang a tiny bit "I have a dream..." which is the opening line to one of the songs from the pilot. It is interesting to re-watch this episode in particular after season 2, just for viewing reactions. I also agree, watch the songs as you have been, then rewind, and watch them a second time. NONE of us will complain and it will help you absorb the non musical details that are happening during the songs. As was mentioned before, Rosie in character confirms that Alastor is Ace (asexual) by calling him an "Ace in the hole" Nice little detail to catch. I know you didn't like the transition to helping from Carmilla, but that was actually her point. She wanted to catch Vaggie off guard, and demonstrate her point. She'd decided seconds before to do so, it's very subtle, but she was hiding it to do that "attack" to start the training.
Personally would recommend watching the pilot before season 2 just for the extra context between characters. Maybe the Addict music video too
Ready for this reminds me of 76 Trombones!
I wrote this before you mentioned the music man!!!
"HOW DID I MISS THE WING THING?! I gotta figure out how to focus better!" ☆SUGGESTION☆ watch the songs as you usually do (focusing on the music 🎶 😉) then go back and watch the song a second time and try to focus on the visuals/story points. I doubt anyone in this crowd will mind a rewind here and there !🥰
Yes, very good suggestion! It would also help if he skipped a view seconds back every time after pausing.
If you notice at the beginning when Charlie is crying in bed, her feet are hooves.
It was so important to me that in this episode Alastor was confirmed to be an "ace in the hole"! There aren't many ace characters in media, let alone an ace character who is litterally the tumbler sexy man as Alastor 💜🩶🤍🖤
My favorite 😭
Omg I noticed the moment you missed the wings (the end of Carmilla's song) and I was like, he's gonna be so confused later... When you realised you had missed them... I'm sorry but I laughed so hard! 🤣 Don't worry, you're not bad at reacting. The show IS really fast paced. Many of us have been watching the episodes several times. We love your reactions! Niffty's voice actor Kimiko Glenn voiced Susan. And I'm pretty sure the inspiration behind Susan was the old CEO of Youtube because adpocalypse happened around the time the series was being written, a lot of youtubers lost income and Susan Wojcicki was the CEO back then. Just a theory, though.... 😉
Kaisa, I'm glad that I'm wasn't the only one who laughed - I had to pause the video because I was gaffawing so hard! Yeah, there's a lot going on during the songs, but that's what makes them so good!
Vaggie's wings come out right at the end of Out For Love, like a magical girl transformation. I think you were preoccupied with the key change at the time. To me, her getting her wings back like that is a sign of self-acceptance. She was so scared that someone would find out who she really was, and when they did she was terrified that it would lead to her losing Charlie and everything she's built for herself after her fall. This is her kind of letting go of the shame. Rosie is such an amazing character, I think. She's just super interesting, the kindly old aunt who gives romance advice but also eats people. She's just very cool. And her relationship with Alastor is very interesting too. The "ace in the hole" comment is such a fun pun because Alastor is canonically asexual, but he doesn't think of it that way, he doesn't even know what asexual means. Alastor doesn't really have friends, but to the extent he has any they're all women. He's generally much nicer to women than he is to men. Just a fun little tidbit of his personality, I find. Like he's clearly more in tune with the feminine than the masculine.
Rosie reminds me of Barbara Streisand as Dolly Levi in the film version of "Hello, Dolly!"
looking at Rosie's VA's wikipedia, Leslie Kritzer, it looks like she actually has played Miss Adelaide in Guys and Dolls!
