The light behind your eyes and welcome to the black parade were the ones that got me into MCR initially (so much so I have lyrics from the light behind your eyes tattooed on me now), but Mama has always been a favorite. I do love the studio version just because there are some held notes he wasn't doing live because he was engaging the audience (which is great live! I enjoyed it when I saw them live too), but I do miss hearing those

YAY what a fantastic christmas present!! this is definitely one of their craziest songs, it's so unique in the genre as a whole too this particular song is from the black parade, which is the same album that has famous last words, and it's the same storyline! i think the music video for the ghost of you definitely inspired mama in particular though
The original has the one and only Liza Minnelli as “Mama”. It’s mind blowing! Highly recommend it just for that alone :3
Ahh I love this song. I definitely like the studio version better (don't hate me, live-lovers 😂). I feel like he's able to go much harder on the vocals when he's not running around, he puts a different flair on it. Live looks like a lot of fun for the people there though. I think they must have performed this at the show I went to way back in the day but my memory is so bad.
This is from a different album than The Ghost of You BUT MCR loves their death themes, I think all of their albums are about death in some way.
yes mama is fantastic!! it’s like a rock opera it’s amazing. they’ve done some real fun stuff with this song during their recent tour. the show i was at, they played an extended version that was like 8+ mins long! also this clip is from their “The Black Parade Is Dead! [Full Concert Video]”
