Saw this when it came out. She’s always great
Nice to see you returning to Florence, and in depth. Your comment about the red dress was on mark. It's purposeful. She's worn red for all the videos AND public live performances from the new album. It's one of the unifying symbols she is employing. If I had to suppose, it's in reference to the color of blood, much of which is literally and metaphorically spilled in many of the pieces of the new album. Her press tour in support of the album has been a lot of fun. She's doing her interviews from a place of someone who, to be blunt, gives no fucks. She's healthy, and enjoying herself. Which is wonderful to see based on her past personal troubles (many of which are explored in this album) with an another unifying theme you touched on... fame and how she relates to it. "Buckle" being on such. On how she has all this fame but cannot get the one man she wants to pay attention to her to do so. "A crowd of thousands came to see me, and you couldn't reply for three days." It's a piece that would have been at home on the radio in the 70's. She's on of the best active artists today in my opinion, and it's been interesting how her pinball path through life has molded her into the woman she is today. And random trivia fact. She attended Chappell's UK show, and Chappell was at one of hers recently. They have met and expressed mutual respect for each other.
This woman! Sometimes I think she is the living personification of pure emotion.
This is such potent art.
