THE CORE VOICE: Part 1-Metal vs. Wind Textures, Intro to Breath & The Meta of Singing.
I'm so excited for this, PLEASE GIVE FEEDBACK on how it is (or isn't) working for you as we go! It will help me adjust it to make it better over the coming weeks.
This is my first installment of a fundamentals singing course I'm creating called THE CORE VOICE I will be sharing with you all at the $5/month tier of support.
SINGING COURSE DETAILS
-This course is for ALL LEVELS. Even though this is accessible for those of you who have never sung before, it's also great for more experienced singers. Returning to 'CORE VOICE' concepts is as important for seasoned singers as it is for beginners, since it's easy for our vocal technique to 'drift.' I use these practices still in my own singing regularly, as well as with my students and instructor team.
-This course will teach you foundational concepts and exercises to help you learn how to sing.
-These fundamental concepts are universal across all styles of singing.
-The content will be released serially, and will progressively build on the concepts of earlier videos, so start at the beginning.
-We will always get to the vocal workouts at the start of the video so you can easily get to the exercises without needing to fast foward through lots of explanations.
THE 4 ACCOMPANIMENT BOOKS I ENCOURAGE YOU TO READ
'The Art of Learning'- Josh Waitzken
'The Talent Code'- Daniel Coyle
'Outliers'-Malcolm Gladwell
'Atomic Habits'-James Clear
These books are more about skill acquisition in general, but we will be applying the concepts specifically to singing.
Thanks for joining me on this journey and again, don't hesitate to give me feedback! It will help me make it the best it can be to help the most people. 🙏
Happy Singing Everyone!
Cheers,
Tim

Tim it’s like you read my mind! You asked me in a comment a while back why I haven’t gotten back into singing if I miss it. I was just thinking recently that I would love to learn from someone like you specifically because I love your energy, and how you think and explain things. Here you are delivering! The truth is I stopped singing a long time ago for many reasons, but one of them was gender dysphoria. Many years later I started HRT, and now my vocal folds are a bit different and my muscle memory is confused! I have considered finding a coach but I’ve been shy and it’s also hard to budget for right now. I’m going to try my best to keep up with these videos and track my progress. Thank you for sharing with us!
Thanks for sharing! 🙏 Yes please let me know how this is going when you try it. My next installments are coming in a couple days. It will be all about remapping the neural pathways for your new voice! You can do it!
I am listening to this at work in the office. It would be very unwise for me to make the sounds! 😅 I will plan to watch again later at home.
Hahaha
I thought the exercises were very effective. I didn't realize just how loud I could be! My cat came in the room and was like "what are you doing?" lol. Now that I know what it's supposed to feel like, singing along to Pandora is going to be really, really different.
Yes, that’s a very common observation in the beginning! Voices are really powerful once they start opening up. And also that’s funny about your cat, they think singing is the craziest thing ever. Lol
I still need to find time to dig into this. It's been a crazy weekend and that is carrying right over into the week. But, find time I wll. Can't wait.
Sorry in advance for the long response 😁. I enjoyed the explanations a lot. The practice exercises were also intriguing, as you said, they made me aware of the unconscious body reflexes that happen when I try to sing. Music is a dear part of me, even though for now it is more of an auditory exercise + me trying to hum or attempt to sing almost every song that brings me joy. I never thought of singing as something that everyone can do, but as I grew up(being almost 25 right now) I started to see the singing as one of the natural ways of expressing emotion that everyone can do. I plan in the future to get back to learning the violin and also start on the piano since they are my favorite instruments, but now I feel like I might need to add singing to the list as well 😊As a side note to the naturalness of singing, here in Romania, the religion is eastern orthodox christianity, so the chants in the church are from byzantine origin. I find them quite fascinating, since they combine very naturally almost every technique of singing. For me this was one of the first examples that led me to start viewing singing as something that is natural, since almost every person present at the church is singing when there are important moments with well known chants. From what I researched, the best singers of these chants were trained in the psaltic art of singing. In the lyrics books at the church and online, I can see notations using both classical music notations and psaltic byzantine notations. I am looking forward to seeing the next one. I mainly joined the community for the exclusive reactions, but I was very happy when I saw the announcement for this type of content.
Awesome Radu, so glad you found it intersting. More to come soon, this is going to be a long progression of concepts. And yes, you are right, EVERYONE can learn to sing.
Can’t wait to dig into this 🥰 I love singing and I can carry a little tune, but I’ve never taken lessons. It’s on my bucketlist 😄
🔥🙌
Cool! Thanks for doing this! I don't have anywhere else but the shower to sing, but I always find it interesting to know what effort and hard work is behind great singing voices. Also this was so short, but yet also so long. If this makes any sense. I wonder what my neighbors were thinking if they heard me singing along to your exercises! 😁
Hahaha!! I love it. I’m excited to have you working through this Norbert. We’re going to have to hear those vocals sometime on Discord! 😁
