I knew it was going to be intense, but I had no idea! š³

Plz listen JP language
I did switch from episode 2 on
One thing it looks like you expected was because the AOT opening was incredible then the whole series was musically related. It has good music, but it isnt a music anime. You can defiantly keep watching, but I would recommend you to try and find top anime openings or endings if you want to breakdown more anime music
People talk about sub over dub. It depends what you are looking for when watching it. The dub isnt bad, and doesnt change the music. If you dont really care about their inflection or voices and just want to hear them talk so you can focus on other things then do the dub.
I would say that the show is 1000 times better in sub rather than in English dub. Please, if you don't mind, can you change for sub ?
I love your music reactions and now AOT?! Im so hyped
Iām ready for episode 2!
Tomorrow! Iām dying to get back it.
I just would like to say please continue this journey. You won't regret it. A lot of the comments have said exactly how I feel for this masterpiece. So I won't go into detail and repeat what has been said. But I do recommend watching the JP version with eng subs and probably watch a minimum of 2 episodes at a time. I truly believe this is one of the best, if not the best anime out there. And the story is written extremely well. Looking forward to joining you on this journey.
I beg of you please watch Attack on Titan abridged after about the 13th episode or so it freaking hilarious and a classic https://youtu.be/TFfa8pcv--k?si=SQ8k_akgOBA47A4M
You should watch Demon Slayer episode 1. The story, graphics, animation and THE MUSIC are all just beautiful
Yeah, anime tends to be LOUD. I can usually tell if my roommate is watching some if I hear a great deal of screaming, explosions, and high-strung conversations. I'm for watching more of this one - it seems more character-driven than just a bunch of battle scenes. Plus, the animation is gorgeous!
I really REALLY recommend the sub over the dub, the emotion conveyed between the two is night and day. its a heavy show with lots of emotion hope to see more coming soon š
This is one of if not the best show you'll ever see from a storytelling perspective
All I can say is that it only gets wilder as the series goes on. Also rewatching the 1st episode here, I caught something the first time that is significantly meaningful later, ha! One of the key things about Attack on Titan is that everything has a purpose and is not there by accident. :)
Aw was really hoping for the subtitled version. At least in my personal opinion the Japanese VA's really make the show something special... Hard to explain but the show in Japanese really is something different. Again just my opinion. Subtitled or not, I sincerely hope you enjoy the show, since it's a piece of media close to my heart :)
The show actually isn't that old, considering it just ended on November 4, 2023 and had many long years of pause between seasons, so April 7, 2013, was its first release. 10 years! Many fans and I have given a decade of our lives to one of THE GREATEST STORIES EVER TOLD! The story, the message, the art, the MUSIC. Please react to the outros (or ending music)
I joined from YouTube because I love seeing people's first reactions with this show. It truly never gets old and the depth in which the world is built, the deep topics and politics that the show hits on, and the character building is unlike any other show. Truly a masterclass in storytelling. I started it in 2013 and did many mini-rewatches as more seasons were released, and it's insane how it never fails to hook you in. BTW: the stop in the middle was a 'mid-card', like a mini-intermission halfway through the episode! It's not used in every anime nowadays, but I think it's left over from the days when these shows were broadcast and paused for commercial breaks. AOT uses them to give random facts and more in-depth info about the world- they're usually interesting and help with building your understanding of the world. Also, anime shows usually have an intro and outro song- sometimes they change mid-season when the story arc ends/starts or for each new season. AOT has amazing songs every time that really match the energy of the story, through ups and downs. I also agree with the other comments- the Japanese audio with subtitles is way better in my opinion! The vocal inflections in Japanese lend to showing so much more emotion and the words aren't as clunky as the translated English. Just a suggestion! I hope you continue with this series- I'll definitely stay subscribed on here to keep up with your reactions if so!
For anyone who feels the need to demand he watch in sub, not dub, remember this is his first anime. While the Japanese voice acting is superior, I'd prefer him to understand what is happening rather than what I prefer to hear, ya know. When I first started watching anime, watching sub was hard. I hadn't mastered reading and following along with the story, and a lot of plot points were lost. Let's be kind.
love to see you reacting to this! though i do recommend using the original Japanese audio with English subtitles as the JP VA's are definitely better at portraying the actual emotion.
I recommend the the subbed version. Most of the performances in the dub are ok, but a couple really fall short... Unfortunately one of those is the main character's x) Another in particular is ok, but *needs* to be much better.
Iāll be more than happy to rewatch this masterpiece for the 4th or even 5th time with someone whoās seeing it for the very first time. Every time Iāve rewatched it before, I not only noticed new details but also felt the same emotional impact as I did during my very first viewing. For me, this anime is one of the most thoughtfully crafted works, and it stands alongside other masterpieces about hope and the fight for it! I also want to add my voice to the comment about watching with the original Japanese audio and subtitles. My friend, who hadnāt seen anime before, felt that the dub actors were overacting and too dramatic. This problem disappeared as soon as we switched to the original audio with subtitles, and from then on nothing got in the way of enjoying this dark yet beautiful storyš
your in for a treat with this show, the music is also phenomenal, the stop in the middle was information related to the show, world building stuff, usually smart to stop and read those. I also highly recommend you check out the Attack on Titan music suite sometime. if you search youtube "Hiroyuki Sawano / ProjectćemUć āAttack on Titanā suite" you should see it. And welcome to the fantastic world of anime, it can be a mixed bag but there some spectacular gems out there, Attack on titan imo being one of them.
Just watched the new OP reaction over on YT and I instantly came here to watch your reaction of episode 1! So stoked for you to experience your first Anime!! I def think it's one of those shows that people end up binge watching at least a few episodes at a time as the hype, seriousness of the plot and what's at stake just builds and builds and builds. Would LOVE to see longer reaction videos here on Patreon with that in mind! :D I think the English Dub has it's moments, but I can't recommend enough to watch the JP Sub version instead! The voice acting is just on a different level as the English language and tonality can be a bit monotone at times, the techniques for JP voice acting in Anime is also just insanely well crafted! If you appreciate great shows then I'd say this is the first one to finish, and then Frieren Beyond Journeys End which has climbed it's way to becoming the number one top rated anime on MyAnimeList, the best site for learning about the different animes out there, it's staff, studio, voice actors and more! Thank you so much for giving Anime a try, it's a media that is often disregarded due to it's nature of being ''animation'' but the stories found here are some of the most innovative and passionate out there! Also; Hiroyuki Sawano the composer is the absolute GOAT. Anything he touches turns gold honestly haha. Highly recommend checking out Hiroyuki Sawano / ProjectćemUć āAttack on Titanā suite on the main channel if you're looking to do soundtrack and not just the Opening themes. I think the soundtracks is where the music of AOT really hits hard!
100% recommend watching at least 2 at once or we will be here in 2027. Itās worth the longer uploads. My friends and I would watch 5-6 in a night when we could get together. Consider it.
Would love to see you watch more of this!
Attack on Titan was the first anime I ever watched. I unfortunately have not kept up with it past season 2
Iād say attack on titan has the best dub out of any anime of there and it has moments where itās better then the sub like an iconic moment later in season 3
I'm so happy you checked this out!! Personally I would recommend to watch Japanese (original) version with subs, Japanese voice actors are phenomenal and it's totally different experience than watching dubs. Dubs are good, I think it gives the show different vibe from original. But either way I'd love to see more of your journey. In my opinion AOT is such a complicated story and I really enjoyed watching it. The storyline, plot twists, music, characters, voice acting: everything is on point. By the way this anime based on manga (its like Japanese comics)
I can already see you enjoying this and soon reacting to the intros outros and hitoyuki Sawano project š I can almost taste it
LEEETTTTS GOOOOO Iāve been waiting for a day like this
I really like that your reacting to this anime it is one of my favorites. I think the Japanese voice is better they really have the emotions in their Voices down.
Man I'm so happy you're reaching to Attack on titan! This anime is a masterpiece (and the manga too) and music is astonishing! Brave yourself for a rollercoaster!
Truthfully, I wasn't going to watch this, but then I decided that because it was something that I had never delved into, I would give it a try. I thought it would probably be one episode in, then out, but I'm hooked. The depth of this is amazing, and the way you grow to care for the characters so intensely really surprised me. It's dark, and I have a feeling it will get darker, but the story has so many layers that I'm hooked. I'm in for watching more.
Same Gaye!
If youāre getting into anime Frieren Beyond Journeys End is a great show. Honestly the soundtrack is so well done too, really enhances the show imo. If you do watch it just an fyi the first 4 episodes can be slow to some people - think of it like the prologue to the rest of the season.
MAN, its been years since I watched this show and I remember it being heavy but forgot just how heavy it is. I'd definitely be interested in watching you continue, it would be fun to revisit it! The music in it is astounding. Just curious, you said its the first anime you've reacted to, is it also the first you've watched? It can take a bit to get used to the quirks compared to western shows, like how intensely emotions are displayed, but I've really grown to appreciate the differences. Also a lot of anime has like a 'commercial break' insert in the middle of the episode, which is what that weird part was in the middle. This was fun! I hope you continue.
Awesome Sean! Yep, FIRST EVER TIME watching any Anime! You are right, they are very emotionally intense! Lol. Iām still processing. It was really insane watching it this morning.
