Dev logs!
And greetings, my dears! Time for the weekly devlog! (Which I almost forgot about.)
So, where should I start... Ah, right! A few words about the C.S. release.
Overall... the release turned out pretty well. I'd even call it a success compared to the previous ones. On the other hand, there were a few comments about the update being less funny than usual. But don't worry, I'll fix that in Part 3!
Now, about Astreon... Heh-heh-heh.
I've been actively working on the update, painfully realizing just what the hell is going on in the previous chapters. (As always.) Over these past two weeks, I haven't done quite as much as I'd hoped. To be precise - 20k words and around 500 renders.
Which sounds pretty decent, I suppose, but considering that a full update requires a little more than that... (4,000 renders and 80k words.) It's not exactly the progress I was hoping for.
On the bright side, I've been actively working on improving the pacing!
Now, a little moment of enlightenment. You see, I used to think that improving pacing simply meant answering the questions raised by the story, and that would somehow make everything better.
BUT APPARENTLY! You can actually improve pacing WITHOUT revealing any major mysteries!
(POV: Other people have been trying to explain this to me for ages.)
P.S. I'm in the right.
Soooo, yeah. I'm pretty happy with how things are turning out. And I've also realized something else: I don't actually need to change Astreon's overall pace. I just need to put the emphasis in the right places! So, armed with this newfound wisdom and a healthy dose of motivation, I'm working on the new chapter!
Oh, and one more thing! About choices. I'm finally planning to tackle them and slightly redesign how they work. In the end, I've come up with the following idea: you'll have a choice... of choices? Basically, Easy Mode and Hard Mode.
On Easy Mode, you'll still have choices, but they'll be as straightforward as possible.
On Hard... difficulty? Hard Mode? Whatever. Your choices will have consequences that carry over throughout the story.
For example, let's say you were rude to some old man near the beginning of the game. Well, that old man will remember it. And if your paths ever cross again, he'll kick your ass.
(Just an example, of course, but you get the idea.)
That said, I'm still not entirely sure about this system. But I think it's a pretty good idea!
Ahem... Well, I think that's everything for now.
Peace and love, my dears!
P.P.S In the render we have Lora. And in the below render as well.
And some Olivia

Peace and tranquility for everyone. To the author — patience and positivity!!!
That choices system sounds legit.. also for the pacing as far as I play it's not that bad ig but improvement is never wrong so looking forward to another news about this. Good luck dev, stay healthy and hydrated.

Don't beat yourself up over the development speed. Take the time you need. (Also, you're still way faster than most developers)
Good to hear about Astreon :)
