Rant: Currently editing the boys 5x7 and I’m pissed all over again…
Did these writers make us invested in Gen V characters for 4 whole years, only to turn around and to make them show up for the sole purpose of delivering a notebook ? Really ? They had a “blood bender”, Marie turn up to deliver a notebook and then drive away a bunch of homie survivors ? They’re taking the piss, no ? That’s all she could do lmao 🤣
Point number 2; The whole Dogknott and The cat sniffing each other butts would have got a laugh out of me two seasons ago. But here we are, homie has taken V1, we are in the endgame, MM is doing a very powerful monologue of how he got his name ‘mothers milk’ and guess what the next scene is, a cat and dog sniffing each others butts. Like FFS.
Point number 3; this dude took V1. But after getting v1, what does he do ? He’s go to planning the homelander theme park and sitting in the Oval Office. Dude, go destroy the world like the promotion pictures teased. Go burn down cities, show the world the repurcussions of homelander getting V1? But no, let’s have a cat and dog sniffing each other. 🤣
Final bit of the rant, Homie killed Frenchie offscreen. I even have no words. I’m not sorry to say but his death did nothing for me. Why would you kill off one of The Boys offscreen and expect me to feel something ? But anyway, it was Clara would have wanted I guess.
I’ll defend this show with my life but they definitely took the piss in episode 5x7.

Yes you should. I still love the show regardless. My only warning is 1 out of 3 times where instead of progressing the plot, they insert gags just to maintain their reputation of being edgy and for shock value

Gen V season 3 getting scrapped makes me wonder if they had planned a lot for that only for it to never be made
Tbh it was kind of a letdown having the Gen V crew show up for 5 minutes after the season 2 build up

Blaming the writers is mistaken. The writers didn't decide that Gen V would be cancelled. They simply were instructed to shoehorn the characters into the Boys final episodes.
Then ignore the entire thing. If that’s the case don’t bring them in at all. It’s better than edging us with an appearance of our favorite college students only to make them deliver a notebook and turning into uber drivers
agree completely. Last few episode weren't given the proper finale treatment . And the Gen V characters getting shafted is still so baffling to me. 2 seasons of all of that for Marie to amount to a delivery woman/ Escort mission taker.

The Gen V crew not having anything to do of substance in this season was def a let down considering the build up in the last season. Either they changed their mind on the direction they wanted to take them or tried to find a way to shoe horn them in after they found out Gen V was gonna be canceled. Either way still wasted potential for sure. Oddly enough I didn't mind the Dogknott/Cat sniffing scene. I feel like moments of seriousness being undercut like scene later but something very goofy has been a consistent thing with the boys through every season. And yeah Frenchie getting killed off screen was an odd choice. I think one that was changed last min. Cause you can't really even see the injury that well in the scene, but in a behind the scene pic, it's a proper full blown prosthetic injury. So I think someone chaget their mind mid edit on how they wanted to depict it. Odd choice still imo.
The dogknott and cat scene should have happened way earlier when the season had just began before took V1. Right now we are in the endgame, like mate, nobody has time for that right now. Otherwise, I agree with everything else’s you mentioned. Thank you for engaging
