I tried the door myself, even tried tweaking it. The middle has trouble moving to the side and when I tweak it it gets stuck open. I'm in 1.20.1 Java, it's modded though so /maybe/ it's causing it not to function, but I doubt it. Could I get some help?

you can change those blocks with other regular blocks the doesn't have effect on redstone
