Rock the Rim: An Important Update on Episode 2

Hey Rim Rockers,

I need to share something important about Episode 2's development, and I want to be completely honest with you about where things stand.

Why I'm Changing Course

Over the past few weeks, I've been wrestling with how to deliver Episode 2. My initial thought was to release it in smaller chunks—get content to you faster, keep things moving. But after seeing your responses to Episode 1 and really thinking about what makes Rock the Rim special, I've realized something crucial.

André's story deserves better than being chopped into pieces.

Think back to playing Episode 1—experiencing that complete journey from start to finish, how each scene built on the last, how the music and moments came together. That's what Rock the Rim is meant to be. Breaking Episode 2 into fragments would destroy that flow, that emotional build-up you all loved.

The Reality Check

Let me be straight with you: I can't maintain the quality you deserve while rushing to meet aggressive deadlines. Here's what I'm facing:

  • Episode 2 is shaping up to be 2-3 times larger than Episode 1

  • Every scene needs the attention it deserves—the music, the dialogue, the emotional beats

  • The branching storylines require careful crafting to feel meaningful

  • And doing all of this solo at the pace I originally planned? It's just not sustainable

RWA Studios has offered support where they can—rendering assistance, technical troubleshooting—but that's not really the point. The point is that Rock the Rim needs the time to become what it's meant to be, not what I can scramble together by a deadline.

What's Coming in 2026

Episode 2 and a standalone DLC will launch simultaneously in Q3 2026 (July-September) on both Patreon and Steam.

The DLC: A Complete Surprise

Here's something I'm genuinely excited about: alongside Episode 2, you're getting a completely separate DLC story. Picture this—the same characters you know, but in an entirely different era. A standalone adventure that expands the Rock the Rim universe in ways you won't expect. This isn't cut content or a simple add-on; it's a full experience in its own right.

Keeping the Community Alive

I know 2026 sounds far away. But here's my promise: you won't be waiting in silence.

Weekly Development Updates

Every week, you'll see:

  • Exclusive previews from Episode 2 and the DLC

  • Music demos as tracks are completed

  • Character development and design evolution

  • Behind-the-scenes content showing real progress

Your Voice Matters

Regular polls will shape development decisions. Which character deserves more screen time? What musical direction feels right for certain scenes? I'll be reading and responding to your comments, answering questions, and genuinely incorporating your feedback into the game.

The Steam Factor

Launching simultaneously on Steam and Patreon is a huge step. It means Rock the Rim reaches a wider audience, but more importantly, it means the game needs to be polished enough to stand alongside other titles on that platform. No half-measures.

Real Talk

After Episode 1 launched, several of you asked, "How are you going to keep this quality up?"

Here's my answer: By not compromising.

I could push out quick content, give you something to play while you wait. But that's not what you signed up for. That's not what André's story deserves. You've shown me through your feedback that you value quality over speed, depth over quick fixes.

The response to Episode 1 was overwhelming. You connected with André, you felt the music, you lived his struggles. Episode 2 needs to honor that connection, not dilute it.

Moving Forward

Yes, 2026 feels distant. But between now and then, we're building something together. Every preview I share, every poll you vote in, every comment you leave—it all shapes what Episode 2 becomes.

This isn't just about making a game anymore. It's about crafting an experience worthy of the community that's formed around Rock the Rim. An experience that, when you finally play it, makes you think, "Yeah, this was worth the wait."

Bottom Line

I'm choosing quality over speed. Complete storytelling over fragmented releases. Your experience over arbitrary deadlines.

Episode 2 will be massive. The DLC will surprise you. And when they drop in Q3 2026, you'll understand why this decision was the right one.

Thanks for sticking with me through this journey. Your patience and support mean everything.

P.S. While you're waiting, check out what else is happening—World of Secrets drops monthly updates, and Lessons in Loyalty is building toward its finale. Great stories are worth the wait, and there's plenty to experience in the meantime.

What's the point of a DLC like this so early on? We've barely even gotten the chance to delve into the main game's story or anything, and you're already taking time away to create an alternate universe? I'd rather see more of the main game first

Honestly, waiting for a great story is better than rushing for bits and pieces. Definitely the better move imo. Plus the extra DLC would be nice too. Great story so far. Can't wait for more 🙏🏽

Maybe if development time wasn't split into 3 distinct VN that are each monetized separately on it's own Patreon things could move quicker or at least appear to provide the kind of incentive that's worth subbing for 🤷
