Welcome to the Teachings of Neville Goddard: SERIES I - Foundation of Conscious Creation
Lesson 2 What I AM Not
Practice — What Remains?
Take out a sheet of paper or open a blank document, or for an alternative just think these thoughts in your mind.
Write or think:
WHO AM I?
Or more importantly for this consideration, what am I identified with?
Consider "facts" about yourself. Any that really resonate with you. Feel free to start with only a couple.
For example: name, age, occupation, marital status, body composition, finances, education?
Include anything that arises spontaneously about the "you" that you consciously identify with.
Just sit with them, let them be there, without judgement.
Now, Begin Erasing
Take the first statement or the first thing that arises (thought, feeling, sensation).
Ask yourself a question used in the Sedona Method:
"Am I that, or am I that which is aware of it?"
If anything lingers about "you" = your name, your looks, your "me-ness" . . .
Erase it. Wave your hand in the air, making an erasing movement.
If you had written them in a notebook or on your phone, just remove them.
One by one, or all at once, remove everything that you observed, described or remembered about yourself.
But notice something extraordinary.
"You" are still here. No belief, no thought, no sensation is "you".
Now Let Us Go Into the Silence
Neville had a practice at his lectures of ending with this ritual.
The silence wasn't without a focus, it was the beginning of conscious creation.
For our first one together, let's focus on the feeling of being that still lingers after the familiar person was erased. That expansive, lighter, carefree being.
Focus on that feeling. Each time you do this practice you will feel lighter, sense more lightness.
Say a phrase in your mind that Neville used: "Isn't it Wonderful!" or one of your own choosing that celebrates beingness.
While feeling that uplift, that expansion, spend a couple of minutes or less, until you really notice that thrill that signifies "wonder". Like a child with a puppy.
Simply be aware that:
I AM.
As you come out of the silence, notice the peace. Every time this is practiced, there is progress. You will begin to notice fewer thoughts and a more open attitude, more of the flow of life.
