Hi Gala!

This was a great pod!! Loved Roger's take on The Exorcist - that was interesting. A little worried about his whole flat earth thing ... let's move on. Still very entertaining!

Any crackpot can say anything but when you have a reputation and a business and creating closely with others, you have stuff to lose and that’s why I greatly respect Roger for his courage to speak his mind. I don’t necessarily agree with him on everything but o absolutely support his willingness to ask questions and go places where others don’t have the courage to go. Keep it up, Roger, you are a beacon of light for those who get it.

I like what Chris says! I love listening to Roger talk about films. I don't always believe his various theories. But great artists are often a little crazy; perhaps that's due to their particular sensitivity. I love him just the way he is.

Here comes the nonsense talk.

In America we let people say what they want and then we judge them, but we don’t punish people for what they think or believe. Unless it’s communism, socialism, sharia law, or anything else that would seek to remove our freedom of speech. I’ll go to war with those ideologies, but Roger can be Roger. 🫡 Rogers in his head too much IMO but he’s got a right to do it.

Look I have a lot of fondness for Avary, but the stuff he’s saying here about vaccines, Canada and pretty much everything else is absolutely insane. This is QAnon nonsense. That said, I’m sure if he’s reading this he thinks I’m part of the “cabal”. He’s a wonderful writer and director and I still love he takes on movies but half expecting him to say the earth is flat next. I love and respect him as a person and an artist but I really hope people here are taking what he’s saying with a grain of salt.

In my opinion, 95 percent of digitally shot films are rubbish, and that goes for most of the films by great directors as well. But that's not the main problem, because the "watercolors" can improve over time. Roger touched on the main problem when he talked about the new generation of Star Trek creators: Many filmmakers have lost touch with the traditions of cinema. For me, the first 50 years of professional filmmaking, roughly from 1910 to 1960, are "the Holy Grail of cinema." During this time, countless incredibly beautiful films were made all over the world, but especially in the USA, and the grammar of filmmaking was invented. Anyone who doesn't have a passionate love affair with this Holy Grail won't be able to make good films.

Not a big fan of Rogan, the only time I listen is when QT and/or Roger are on.

B

Surely you have the ability to read the room? Especially considering Joe’s, Trump support.

I don't think all the stories about Hearst are true. At least Peter Bogdanovich, who knew Wells well, said so a few times. Wells supposedly met Hearst in an elevator and said to him: "If you don't stop boycotting me, I'll actually make a film about you." On the other hand: what do I know?

The Counselor has been one of my favourite Scott films since first seeing it when it came out The Last Dule was great as well I have sixth sense with Ridley's movies, I seem to catch the good ones and miss the bad ones
