Salvatore Lima
Alright everyone, time to put on your "podcast listener" uniform and get to work! This week's episode is brought to you by The Italian Rat Council. Riley's got a mobbed-up mayor of Palermo.
Municipal meeting minutes include: Trip Crumpto, Cement Library Card, Speaking mafiosely, Italian Serpico, Load-bearing snitches, "Organized" crime?, and illegally kissing the homies.
Pick up a copy of Mattie's book why not!

"nel segreto dell'urna, dio ti guarda Stalin no" in case you'd like to know a popular DC slogan
I'm an archivist. Thanks for the lines.
also those moveable bookcases with the big wheel you turn are called "compact shelving" which of course lends itself to verbiage like "getting compacted" for when you smush someone between them
Trip crumpto is how my brain feels right now after teaching logarithms to freshers for 3 hours non stop 😂
Karl Lueger episode when?
Jeffery Bezos is incapable of getting “it” up… and by it I mean… my spaceship
GOTTVERDAMMT PATREON APP this was a reply to the comment about Blue Origin
In faire Burlington VT, we too suffer under the (Sicilian) boot of a city government run partly by and entirely for slumlords (including the major university) AS WELL AS a comically mobbed up seeming concrete/builders conglomerate call S.D. Ireland that has a traditional not-really-official monopoly on city contracts and most everything within city limits. We also have a goldmine for this podcast. basically, the New England version of a chaebol. Slumlord-Used Car(all sections of the used car economy)-Food Service-Development? dynastic conglomerate called (I am not making this up in any way shape or form) by one word and one word alone… … … … … Handy
The Italian PCD: Proudly Cementing Dead-guys-into-walls
Ey… uh senyore peasent… uh if ya don’t pay up, Sal da Data Scientist is gonna fit ya for a cement spreadsheet… ya dig?
If I may quote the seminal poet of an era that will soon stand amidst the desert like vast trunkless legs of stone, the great Perturbed Shellydout… “Look upon my tokens, ye blockchain, and despair! Wait…what the fuck…? OZ MY ANDIAS ARE… GONE!!!!!” truly a poignant reminder of humanity’s transience, the folly of power, and that one time a bunch of rich people lost a lot of money on the internet and we had a good laugh.
the fair city of Burlington Vermont, USA, and their noble guardians of law probably deserve an episode at some point. They’ve currently had the entire local PD and a bunch of other ones playing Rainbow Six: Siege in real life at this apartment building because someone posted a video online of a guy freaking out in his apartment and literally everyone who lives there is saying it’s entirely unnecessary. UPDATE: THEY FUCKIN LIT part of THE BUILDING ON FIRE it seems, the guy they were after is being taken to hospital but unclear as to his condition, and the building is full of gas, people’s families and pets we’re trapped inside by the PD cordon for upwards of 12 hours and people have been having major medical issues because they couldn’t get meds and then couldn’t breathe… NO COPS NO MAYORS
also they’ve been gassing an entire residential block for multiple hours
i do love you guys very much but i am always slightly unsettled by the sheer number of spot-on cultural references for *any* context you’re talking about. none of you should know about Hugo Spritz or fucking Bozen/Bolzano (okay maybe Riley has a wine-related excuse)
(though Hugo Spritzes are very nice and should be available outwith the Bavaria-North Tyrol-South Tyrol region)
In australia we say 'salvo' when referring to an overpriced charity shop that funds homophobic lobbies. Cute hey?
Joke's on you, I don't remember what you said last week in the future either. Also Blue Origin launches into space at suborbital speeds, it's emphatically not putting anyone "in orbit".
AS A CHORUS LINE HEAD THANK U FOR THIS OUTRO 💃🏽
In Spain rusticating, thinking about how if I moved a bit to the right I could do so more mafiosaly
SWIMMING WITH THE MICROFICHE
And my parents said I would never use my MA in archiving.
Gonna put i4i (italian for italian) in my grindr profile
Fun little fact for you all: the word mafia is only mentioned twice on the Italian Wikipedia page of the Christian Democrats

I think it's Kind of funny
ITS CALLED MUNICIPAL ROUNDUP. AND IM A FAN
this is like one of those episodes of Sopranos made specifically to tell you you shouldn't glamorize Tony
specifically the one where the gang does HUD housing fraud and the cops works with street gangs to terrorize the residents of the housing in question
We are the daughters of the snitches you couldn’t cement into a foundation.
We’ve been skiing in the Dolomites up until now
In 1977, the mayor of Cuckfield, where I live, was called "Cocky" Farr, according to the village website.
I know one of our mayors must have been the one to decide "nah, the railway will never get to run through this important coaching town", causing a diversion that led to the town declining into a village with an atypical number of inns, but I don't know who or when or whatever, and I don't have time to research right now
wow already season 55, feels like its only been a year since the start of season 1, here's to 55 more. 🍻

I saw Hiyah Patrol play live at Constitution Hall in DC. And I think Tryp Krumpto opened for them.
