Headcanon: The squid isn't directly under the illuminate, but is a mercenary who originally joined the invasion to get paid. However, love wins in the end
I think the bug diver was genuinely asking about the smoothie, probably the flavor or to know where he could get one.
That bug is clearly intelligent and trained, but that Illuminate is obviously still highly undemocratic.
