Try Better Car Liveries for free! + FAQs
Have you ever been frustrated with default car liveries disappearing in the Forza Horizon series when you change the colour of your car? Tired of recreating stripes in the livery editor just to create your ideal car spec?
Worry no more - Better Car Liveries solves this problem, and also adds far more in-depth customisation to many cars in Forza Horizon 5.
Here's some of what you can expect:
• Paintable default liveries/stripes
• Default liveries/stickers/stripes that don't disappear when changing colour
• Paintable plastic trim for some cars
• Paintable roofs and spare tyres for some cars
• Paintable carbon fibre for some cars
• Paintable centre lock wheel caps for some cars
• Paintable window stickers for some cars
• Separate front/rear wheel painting for cars that appear this way by default
What cars are included?
Read the mod guide attached below to see a comprehensive breakdown of which cars are included and what new painting options they have available. There are currently over 200 cars included!
I'm always adding new cars, so keep checking back! If there's a particular car you'd like to see, let me know in the mod requests channel on my Discord!

FAQs
How can I use Better Car Liveries?
The mod pack will only work on the PC version of Forza Horizon 5 - both on the Microsoft Store and Steam versions. There is no way to use this mod pack on the console version.
Will I get banned for using this mod?
Nobody has ever been banned for visual mods such as Better Car Liveries to the best of the modding community's knowledge - so it's considered safe to use!
However, there is always a chance. Please be careful when using mods, especially with tools that enable cheating such as XP, wheelspins, or giving yourself cars. I do not condone using tools such as those, as you're very likely to get banned.
I do not accept any responsibility if you get banned.
If I paint my car with these new features, will other players be able to see it?
Other players will not be able to see any painted parts that aren't included in the base game, unless they also have Better Car Liveries installed.
Can I share a livery using these new features?
Yes you can, and your changes will carry across providing the recipient also has Better Car Liveries installed.
The livery preview that people see before they download it will appear with new painted parts, and this may even happen on the console version! However, it still won't apply without having the mod pack installed.
I would not recommend sharing any liveries you make with this mod pack as it could increase your risk of being banned.
Some default liveries appear grey/purple after installing this mod?
Fear not, you can still paint them through the advanced paint groups. This is just a visual bug for some cars with the method that I use to create this mod pack, but rest assured this is normal.
I've found a bug, how can I report it?
This mod pack is a work in progress, so you may encounter bugs that I've not noticed yet! Please send a message in the Better Car Liveries community here on Patreon or in the support channel on my Discord to let me know and I'll take a look at it.
I'm having trouble getting the mod pack working, can you help?
When you become a patron, you can find a full install guide in each update post. Please read this carefully and follow the steps in order - I appreciate this guide may be confusing if you're new to modding!
If you're still having trouble, please send a message in the Better Car Liveries community here on Patreon or in the support channel on my Discord and I will try to support you further.
Install instructions
For Microsoft Store versions:
Make sure your game is installed to the XboxGames folder and not to the default location of Microsoft Store apps (if you're not sure how to do this, check out this handy YouTube video by AidanBenny)
Navigate to XboxGames\Forza Horizon 5\Content\media\cars
THIS STEP IS REALLY IMPORTANT! Back up each file you're replacing somewhere else on your PC in case you wish to restore the originals. It may be quicker to back up the entire folder than pick out each file - this currently takes up about 18.5GB as of Series 43
Once you've backed up the original files somewhere else, replace them with the files included in the zip file you've downloaded from this post
For Steam versions:
Find the game in your Steam library, right click on it, and choose Manage>Browse local files
Navigate to media\Cars
Follow the rest of the steps above for the Microsoft Store version, making sure to back up the original files somewhere else
