š [LORE] The Symbolism Behind Sierraās Oblivion š
Even if it may seem like a random artistic choice, the place representing Sierraās oblivion, the one she reaches at the end of Chapter 7 inside her mind, is anything but random. š
Its dreamlike appearance is perfect for conveying powerful symbolic meanings:
At the center, the spiral you see is a symbol connected to many works, but in general it represents the continuous transformation Sierra has been experiencing for a long time. š
It reflects both her ability to grow and improve over time⦠and her inability to truly change, remaining trapped in the same form.
A deeply dual symbol, often associated with a drill, or a snake eating its own tail, the ouroboros. š
Sierraās paradox lies exactly here: a dualism between a woman capable of becoming who she always dreamed of⦠and one who gives in to a tragic fate, accepting mediocrity.
The spiral symbol has appeared before, in previous chapters and in many MGNK covers across this and other platforms. šØ
The first time we see it is on Sierraās back in Chapter 4, when sheās in the water with Alex. It appears only for a brief moment, hinting that something is happening behind the scenes⦠that the demons within her oblivion are beginning to rebel. ā ļø
In Chapter 5, we meet Nana, Sierraās grandmother, who we now know has passed away. šµ
Within that dreamlike space, Sierra recalls some motivational words Nana told her years ago. The background of that scene is, once again, a spiral⦠and it ends with Nana telling Sierra to always remember to love herself. š
Itās no coincidence that the following scene introduces Happy, the plush toy Nana made especially for Sierra⦠only for us to discover that Sierra now calls it Hated. š§ø
Happy, Hated, and Sierra are the same person.
They represent different stages of her life, and the name reflects how she feels about herself. Throughout MGNK, Sierra has felt Hated⦠while once, she was Happy.
The real question is⦠will she ever become Happy again? ā
Another recurring symbol is the X. ā
Beyond its common meanings, here it represents Sierraās Shapes, marking targets from within the oblivion so they can strike her with fragments of memory, as seen in the ending of Chapter 7.
It also alludes to the letter X in Alexās name. Being the final letter, it symbolizes the end of their brief relationship during TNWM⦠the very event that pushed Sierra into this spiral of regret and despair. š
At this point, you might be asking: āWhat the hell is oblivion?ā š¤Æ
In psychology, it can be seen as a mental space responsible for erasing episodic and sometimes semantic memory traces. Itās like a trash bin, removing what we choose not to remember.
Thatās exactly Demon Shapeās goal: to erase Sierra.
But to do so, it must completely extinguish her light⦠āØ
Do you really think Sierra has lost all her light?
If so, maybe you should reconsider some of the foreshadowing hidden in previous chapters⦠š
Like a drill made to dig downward into the earth, Sierra has always dreamed of flying upward⦠of breaking through the skies. āļø
Will she succeed?
Will she accept her past to claim the future she desires?
Or will Demon Shape prevail?
In a relentless race against time and against all odds, Sierra and Alex find themselves fighting against fate⦠and against the will of someone who changed their lives forever. ā³
It has been almost two years since that pivotal night when Eliza altered everything.
Will they uncover what truly happened?
And when they do⦠what will follow? š
Thereās only one way to answer all these questionsā¦

Is the Demon Shape a real demon that infiltrated Sierra's soul when it was shaken and seemed to merge with her deepest painful consciousness, or is it actually an "Other Consciousness" that emerged from the profound traumas in her life?
The Demon Shape is the representation of the perfection that Sierra has always been taught to pursue. Youāll get to know it better in the next chapter, but itās as if it embodies the person she was supposed to become to please everyone around her. Itās a dystopian entity born from a twisted, unattainable ideal. We are imperfect humans, we have our own will, our own hopes, our own ambitions. And while the world around us tries to paint us in different ways, we are meant to fight to preserve our own colors. In conclusion, the Demon Shape is that constant attempt of an insecure person to blame themselves for their failures. āIf I had been more confident, I would have won that woman over,ā āIf I had studied more, Iād have a well-paying job now,ā and so on. These are the thoughts that have fueled the Demon Shape from within, a monster made of regrets and remorse, of uncomfortable truths never accepted, replaced instead by lies that only erode Sierraās self-esteem and her ability to determine her own path.
I wonder how the oblivion is tied to Giulia? And is Sierra's escape from oblivion tied to somehow defeating her? Since Alex, for all his faults, seems tied to all the women in the game, is he the key to helping Sierra pull this off? (If so, why Alex? What makes him so special?) Hmmm.
Giulia Omega and Sierra are not connected in any way. What Sierra is going through has nothing to do with Giuliaās Glitch storyline. The Oblivion is simply a mental representation of Sierraās emotional fragility and how overly high expectations and excessively authoritarian parenting styles can chronically shape a personās mind. Alex, being the protagonist, will definitely play a key role and will have to fight to save Sierra from this nightmare. But Sierra also has her own battle to win. The questions youāre asking are great :3
Sierra can power through and turn the spiral upwards, instead of down. She needs a fixed point of focus and practice believing in it. Somebody to help her wouldn't hurt... if they're willing to go into the weeds and not let her do it alone. Let the Oblivion suck somebody else down LOL!
The Oblivion is just a mental representation of Sierraās trauma and pain, but she could definitely be helped by external stimuli. What really matters is that sheās willing to accept her past and who she is, not just who she wishes she had been.
I knew it!! The oblivion has a deeper and a very darker meaning and you just didn't put it there because it looks cool or casual... I really hope Sierra will overcome all of her inner demons in the newest version... What a peak detailing by Omega Games šš»šš»š„
Thanks :3 Spirals are beautiful, but they also carry many meanings, thatās the only reason I chose them :P
