[Poll] Game Connectivity

I need your input on something, everyone :)
Since the start when I started developing, I wanted to include a feed on the main menu, that shows you the latest posts right there, in game.
I finally was able to implement it.

Looks like this at the moment:

You would be able to see the latest posts and links to them right there in the game (Patreon posts for the patreon version, and Steam posts for the Steam version - if possible - because I believe I can't link to Patreon in Steam releases).

Of course to fetch the latest posts, the game has to reach out to my remote server to pull the content!
This would also allow me to get cool data on what decisions are being made by people (like did they cheat, did they let suzie go wild, etc.) which would help me make future decisions :)

So what I want to know is...
Would you mind the game connecting to my server, or would you disable it?
I would add an option for you to disable it :)

EDIT: YES, connection would not be needed to play the game! You could play normally offline!
The game would only talk to the server when starting the game (then stop), and when you quit (to send playthrough data).
Connection would absolutely NOT BE needed to play.

Moreover, I'd allow you to decide if you want to connect or not, before any connection was made :)

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

LOVE,
BCG.

If it asked before connecting I would probably say yes (I trust you), but otherwise my default is to block access for games and am suspicious when they try to reach out (TLDR neat idea, but already abused by bad actors).

Yeah, definitely will ask. Thinking about how to best disclose what is being sent/recieved. I just have simple decision variables planned. For the first part of ep7 it will probably just be getting the posts and no data sending

The variety is good, and I think the direction you were taking is fine, but I think you rushed things a bit in the last chapter. My favorite part of the new chapter was the beginning; the rest felt too fast and didn't flow smoothly.

Yeah. Unfortunately I got burnt out a bit there in the middle of it, with everything that happened. Hopefully I can make coming episodes more true to form of the previous ones.

That's a good idea, but I'd prefer the suggestion of choices/options for the game would be done here on Patreon, due to some people might be curious to other choices that lead to having multiple chosen path

I don't mind it, especially since you'd provide a means not to allow it. Most games I download, like this anyway, my pc security will ask if I want to give it access to the internet and I generally deny it. But it's not a bad idea as a means to see which direction is most popular with your game.

Kind of unrelated to the post but looking at the menu clarity I think making the fonts the same would help a lot with the looks. Right now it has 3 different fonts, it looks a bit spammy.

B

Agreed, lots of fonts. I can't find a single font that would work well for everything all together though 😅

I would likely disable it/never enable. I also think the numbers that would leave it disabled would tilt any polling results. Plus many will actually choose the options your referencing to see the content but would then rollback or do multiple save paths. In my case, I would consume/play all that is there, but that would not reflect my "path preference" if that is what you would be looking for.

No worries, it will be disabled by default :) And you're right, I guess there would be some 'tainted' data from people just checking what kind of content there is in different paths.

Well, connections like that tend not to be very secure, as they are easily exploited by hackers. However, if the game had the option to easily connect and disconnect whenever you wanted so that the user could have more information about the game, that would be interesting! Some games use a type of connection, logging in with a Patreon account; I don't know if that would be viable for your idea!

I would disable it immediately. Even more so for NSFW games and indie developed apps i do not want an insecure connection established.

Cool, it'll be auto disabled. You'll have to manually enable it so no worries!

Sounds good 😗

Sounds like a cool idea and the fact you get some data on what choices are made might be good for future stuff as you said!

Would be really interesting to see the pie-chart data for cheaters vs non-cheaters haha. Also very interested as to how many actually let Suzie give Trevor her phone number.

I'd probably disable it, mostly only because I use my work laptop (don't ask 🤣😅) and I'd rather not have any suspicions connections flagged.

B
BCG · January 4, 2026

Of course, completely understandable. The game would call/send to different endpoints on the website, like https://bananacreamgames.com/news I understand the want for complete anonymity! I will provide a way to disable it before it even tries to connect :)

Do it brother from another mother! ♡

connect then the steam version... not everyones, or at least ensure if you are online (aka traveling with a laptop abroad), it does not cripple gameplay...

Game would just ask for the new posts when starting up, then stop talking. And send playthrough data when closing the game, or reaching the end of the update :) It would not be 'connected' in between, so it would not affect gameplay at all :)

I have no problem with it in general as long it is possible to play the game also without internet connection. Because wifi and signal for mobile data roaming is not always available.

Of course, connection would absolutely *not be needed* to play!
