Gaoshuin doesn't have just one kid he has at least two, and the unnamed older one has a kid himself. He stated that in an earlier episode, I forget which.
If I understood correctly they don't want to get to Lakan through Maomao, but they don't want Lakan to get angry, because is too close to Maomao. Lakan hinted before that he knows about Jinshis position and so he probably doesn't want Maomao to be associated with Jinshi and his problems
Also Maomao said "I don't really understand what it feels like to love a mother" this episode. She doesn't really care that Lakan bought out her mother, I think, atleast not emotionally - more from a doing whats right perspective.

a big thing regarding Lishus ladys in waiting is that jinshi can only really aid lishu in dealing with them he cant deal with them himself otherwise it will give her a bad reputation of not being able to handle her own ladys in waiting, but once lishu stood up to them it gave jinshi the opportunity to come in and aid her
and that just goes for alot of what jinshi does, he has alot of power but cant use it himself because of how it would reflect on his reputation, however he can use his power if its a case of helping someone elses problem
