For an entertaining explanation of the moths check out the MoreParz short "how to survive without organs". For better explanation read my reply to this.
Actias ningpoana (Chinese luna moth), and Actias dubernardi (Chinese moon moth) are silkworm moths that have an 8-13cm wingspan and a bright vivid green color not all that different from how they are shown here. They also live for only 7-10 days after emerging from their coccon as they have no digestive system and their organs are basically limited to those needed to move around and reproduce with females able to lay several hundred eggs. Their adult lifespan is basically dependent on how much carb loading they did before spinning a cocoon.
The scene that confused you with the handkerchief isn't related to western culture like you suggested. Its more related to asian culture that believe women lose beauty if a wound leaves a scar. That's why even in modern anime [slice of life / school life] if someone gets hurt they make it a big thing about going to the nurses office or treating the wound right away.
At this point when i saw the end of episode 6 the biggest thing that stood out for me that would have made Maomao stand out to the emperor is the fact that she saved the lives of his high ranking concubines 3 times, 1 with the poisoned soup and Lihua twice now over her pregnancy, it'd be kinda hard not to take notice at such success
Some of your congjectures.... GAAAAA!
big secrets are to unraveld in this house i like
Detective Taylor be cooking and all seems very plausible
I have officially corrupted my wife on this show because of these videos, she never once cared about anime before but last night we bought season 2
yeah so the women not being doctors thing is sorta like a traditional law coming from "women dum they cant be doctors" but everyone we see in power in the show is actually pretty smart, so although what maomao does is illegal the emperor and others see her benefit and just turn a blind eye knowing that shes a great asset ( like how the emperor requested maomaos help in season 1). it would only really be a issue if other nobles found out because then they could accuse higher ups of favouritism and showing weakness
Given that Loulan's ladies in waiting were talking with the Emperor instead of Loulan, where do you think she was? Given her propensity for disguise, was one of the ladies in waiting Loulan, or was she somewhere else when Maomao met up with Shisui and the Emperor came to Loulan's palace? Also Jinshi is truly a heavenly maiden. Two feminine love intrests (Jinshi and MaoMao,) while still being a het couple makes it amazing.
If i remember correctly, Lady Shin plotting against Lady Lihua was teased in S1 EP 1, that was her who dismissed Maomao(s message about the white powder
The message still made it to Lady Lihua though as she told Maomao that she ignored her warning
