Apothocary Diaries 2x3-4

I thought "consort" is an official title given to the partner of royalty such as prince consort and princess consort which is basically a status given to concubines and can be because of their family status as nobles vs commoners. Meaning that all consorts are technically concubines, but not all concubines are consorts.

The mushroom Maomao showed is based on a real mushroom called poison fire coral. It produces several nasty toxins (sorry Taylor I'm not going to look them all up to spell them) that combined cause destruction of white blood cells, rashes, peeling skin, hair loss, brain damage, blood clotting, hemorrhaging in the lungs, fever and kidney and liver damage. there is an entire classification of toxins called mycotoxins that are produced exclusivly by molds and fungus and their honestly among the most horrible things that are naturally produced. (and feel free to tell me if I'm info dumping to much. I like learning and sharing random info)

Oooo I was waiting for these episodes

Hell yeah excited to see what you've been cast in!

out of the 2000 girls in the rear palace there is at least a couple hundred concubines but that number includes lady's in waiting and servants as well and then there is the main four girls who are all given special treatment

As i understand it. Courtesans are from the pleasure district who offer paid services, Consorts are women of political or wealthy backgrounds sent to the rear palace to serve as potential concubines, and Concubines are women who have active nights whether regularly or occasionally with the Emporer. Only high ranking Concubines see nightly visits and have potential to become Empress Consort should they give birth to a prince.

i can't believe they didnt remember this are they even watching the show? - Jokes aside good cases incoming.

MAOMAO TIME 🙌

That wasn't the ox bezoar.

Courtesans like the ones at the verdigris house are unaffiliated with the royalty at all. Consort and concubine are used interchangeably here and all of them are reserved solely for the emperor. There are the four high ranking concubines Gyokyo, Lihua, Lishu, and Loulan but they are still concubines like the rest of them until and unless one of them gives birth to a son who survives long enough for them to get married to the emperor, at which time the one he marries would become the empress. All of the concubines cannot leave the rear palace unless they are given special leave to do so, like the one in the first season who was presented to her childhood friend the military officer as a reward. The serving girls are all there on contracts and when those are over they leave and find other jobs or get married.

Four CONSORTS. 200 Concubines. Ladies in Wating, Serving girls... and outside the palace 3 'princesses' among the Couresans.

That’s not at all where I thought that was going, but looking forward to whatever it is your doing
