Announcement: MPL is now on Indefinite Hiatus.

I suck. I know, but there's no easier way to put this. As stated in the title, I've decided to put the MPL Webtoon on Indefinite Hiatus, and I don't know when - or if - I'll pick it up again. I'll also be creating content as a "hobbyist" rather than a "professional", and I'll revise my Patreon tiers to reflect these changes.

Now that that's out of the way, here's the real talk:

The bad news is, I don't know if I want to make a living off of my art anymore.

The good news is, I no longer have to (not anytime soon, anyway, thanks to your support over the years, coupled with my combined Webtoon revenue.

It feels like crap, having to relinquish everything I'd worked hard to build, over the years: the MPL community and fandom, and my reputation and credibility as a comic artist; but it had to be done. The pressure and expecations that came from being a Webtoon artist was killing off every drop of my creative inspiration and spark, and after mulling over this for an entire year, I don't see any way out other than to build everything from scratch all over again. So...YOLO.

I'm still at my computer every day, tinkering away at some piece of art illustration or another. That's not entirely healthy either, and I reckon it's because I still feel chained and bound to the promises I'd made, and failed to deliver. Hopefully, this announcement is what's needed to free me from those shackles. It's been a fun ride y'all, but I'm stepping out of the past, and I'm laying this whole chapter to rest at last.

I have some major house repairs to catch up on (my poor, neglected apartment is falling apart by its hinges, lol), so I'll take it easy for the rest of 2024 and probably post just 1-2 pieces of art every month. But come 2025, I'm starting a new chapter for me, and maybe for us: if any of you would like to remain on this ride with me, I'll be delighted to have you here❤️

Now as one of your biggest fan, I am looking forward as always of your future works and will pray and support you for what you do forward! Hey I’m new to this platform but have been a huge fan of MPL for years now. As someone who also struggles a little bit with OCD and other mental diagnoses, I’m so proud of you for doing what you need to for your mental health. On the other hand as someone who has a hard time with unfinished things… any chance of there being something that puts some of the cliffhangers to rest?

Hello! I’m new to your Patreon, but I have quietly followed MPL for a while. I recently reread, and I’m sorry this is happening to you. We love your work, but your health is so important, and way to go you for focusing on that. We’re here to support you! Good luck with everything, and thanks for letting us know what’s going on.

This is such a great step to make, and im sure you made whats best for you, and i personally wish the ultimate best for you as a person and artist. I have one question and its ok if you dont feel like answering it: was it webtoon originals insane posting schedule that did this to you? :(

M
Madeline · November 7, 2024

You have our support. Take care of you, take all the time you need, and it's OK for webtoons and such to be a pace that you never want to do again. I've loved watching/reading what you have created and will continue to do so. But it needs to be what brings you joy to create not what you feel you have to push out and burns you out. So do what you need to do - we'll be here to support you 💛

T
Tracy Levesque · November 7, 2024

First, you are more important to us than anything else. So don’t worry if MPL is on indefinite hiatus. WEBTOON has screwed over so many artists. Take care of yourself and we’ll be here in whatever way you need us.

B
Birdsong · November 6, 2024

First, you don’t owe anything to your fandom, so please let go of that guilt. It’s only going to get in your way. Second, Webtoon is notoriously not nice to artists, and burnout for good storytelling is high on that platform for reasons that have nothing to do with you specifically. You did not fail. Their system is exploitative. Third, you can’t just push your way through burnout (though my god, I wish we could). Cut yourself some slack. Do what you need to do to take care of yourself and those you love, and when you’re ready, your creativity will lead you where you should go. I’m sorry to miss MPL’s ending, but that’s OK. It happens.

K
K_Grandberry · November 5, 2024

Hopefully you can get some actual restorative rest and then at least a written rundown of the ending (if you’re feeling it). I’m a NANA and Berserk fan so I’m used to waiting, maybe forever in the case of NANA 😭, for a resolution. Your health is the priority, as you can’t create things you genuinely love or at all if you’re drained of life/energy/love for making.

F
Fatima Gonzalez · November 4, 2024

I agree with pretty much everyone that your health is more important like think about you first girl!! But a food for thought, I know the art part is killing you, is there any world that you see yourself (or commissioning) a written cannon ending? Like we won’t have the visual comic but at least we have the canon ending in a few chapters or book ??

W
What The Watt · November 7, 2024

Or a chapter where Poppy or Tora tell us how everything worked out or even just the outline of the intended ending would suffice too as a bare bones compromise, in my opinion. Of course, it's a major bummer that we won't get a fully fleshed out conclusion, especially after that giant not-exactly-cliffhanger-but-still-intensely-emotional-loose-ends point where it stopped, but a little something is still better than absolutely nothing.

N
Nunyabiznass · November 3, 2024

Yes, this is a bummer. I’ve been a working creative my entire adult life and more than understand that working as a creative and being a creative are two vastly different animals. Even in the most ideal situation being a working artist can suck the creativity right out of you. You’re an amazing artist and most importantly a human being. Just be. It’s ok. If you ever pick MPL back up, you have a fan base, if you don’t… the world still turns. The absolute hardest part of anxiety, OCD and ADHD is letting go. Knowing when to give a fuck and when something truly doesn’t require that level of energy from you. It takes years, IF it ever happens. Heal and let go of some of the worry, it’s amazing the Lily you’ll find hidden under there. Thank you for the entertaining characters, story and art. We’ll be just fine with our memories and daydreams of MPL.

I’m super sad to not know the ending of MPL.. I was wondering why it was taking so long for the new season to begin being released😕 So I started reading it from the beginning again, getting hyped up for the new to come chapters🥺😭💔 As much as I read, I understand this happens to authors and artists a lot. I just hate it because I loved this story so much. Still. We’re all human, and life plans definitely don’t always pan out how we expect them to. I hope your new chapter is meaningful, productive, and happy! Best wishes🙏🏻

Uwaaahh... *heavy feelings* as many have said, it's so hard to think we aren't going to be seeing the continuation of the world of MPL any time soon. I, as many others, found/find your stories and art inspirational, moving, and completely soulfully beautiful. I joined Patreon way back when, because of you, because I was completely hooked and wanted to support you (and of course see all the ♡extra♡ bits 🥰! After joining, and having the privilege of getting your feedback and honesty through the years, there's a level of genuine care and support that's developed. We all go through so much under the surface, and here you are, using your talent and putting your imagination and passion out there to be judged by the (not always kind) people of the world. I don't know all the inner workings of WT, but I know the feeling of losing passion because it becomes a monetary requirement. It's easy to loose yourself to the pressure of that. I'm so sorry it has happened to you... I hope to see you find yourself again, and be able to face your stories with joy and passion again. I'm sorry for all the backlash you have and are facing... There's a japanese proverb i love that goes "Nanakorobi yaoki" - Fall down 7 times, stand up 8. You are incredibly strong, and i know you'll stand up and meet us again ♡ I look forward to that time. Until then, take care of yourself! Aloha ♡

Francie Harville · January 3, 2025

This is exactly how I feel, too. Thank you Lilydusk for the ride that MPL has been, and for the art you have created. I'm a fan of you, not just mpl. As a person running a career during the day and maintaining a creative life outside of that (with family and stuff on top of that), I understand Burnout. As a 30+ years veteran teacher, I've had to overcome burnout many, many times. As an artist, I got fried out two years ago, and am only starting to pick things back up. Take care of yourself--you deserve it! (And WT can pound sand)

V
Victoria · November 2, 2024

As an author who has been through something similar with a publisher, I feel this so much. It’s tragic when a creator is burnt out because of unrealistic expectations and deadlines. The sad part is the company pushing you to your limits is just a bunch of businessmen. Most of them -sometimes all- have never created or written anything. So they have absolutely no idea what goes into creating a work of art, whether it be a manuscript or a comic. It takes a horrible toll on your mental and physical health when they make unrealistic or unreasonable demands. Not to mention, you lose your creative spark and you no longer enjoy what you’re doing. Sadly, when this happens it can take years to get it back. But, I will say that going through this will only make you stronger in the end. Even if it doesn’t seem like it now. You’ll find that love and creativity again. In the meantime, work on your physical and mental health. Ignore any negative comments and just love yourself. Know that there are so many people behind you. We love and support you. Also, one thing that’s helped me is to grow my tribe. Find another creator to talk things out with. Someone that can just listen and let you vent your frustrations. Whether it be an author or an artist, it doesn’t matter. Be yourself! We love you for who you are. If you need to chat or just vent, I’m always here. Xoxo

O
OMJess · November 2, 2024

Listen you just tell me where to send my money and take your time. A drained creator can never be at their full potential. Hell if you want to finish the story here that’s fine. If you never come back to it, that’s fine too.

Your well-being is infinitely more important than producing art. We have been incredibly fortunate for all the work you’ve shared with us thus far, and if that’s all we’ll ever get, then it will be more than enough. Take care of yourself!

S
Stephanie Skanes · November 2, 2024

Mental health is best health. If you’re burned out and you’re not feeling the passion you once had, it’s ok to step and take a breath. You’re an amazing artist and talented story teller. But you’re also a human. You’re smart to recognize your own limitations. I also want you to know that if it weren’t for this webtoon, I wouldn’t have the community that has helped me so much through such bad times. So thank you for this gift. 🍓

S
SP · November 1, 2024

Thank you for being as transparent as you can with us! As an artist on canvas I have hoped to model my aspiring webcomic career after you, but given the changing times and changing terms with WT it’s important to prioritize our mental health most so we can produce the best content for others. I hope you find a new way to produce your work where both you and your story can flourish together. Btw as a side note I might have fallen for Ulaan and Tora so much that I married an ISTP irl who resembles them a bit lol. No regrets and he’s the love of my life. You may have unintentionally helped me there and I’m grateful for you. Love your work, Lily! Here’s to a brand new chapter for you, whatever that may be ✨

Fallow · November 1, 2024

I was talking to *insert comic creator here* (decided to remove their name to protect them) and we both agree that there needs to be a platform for creators to post mature comics and get compensated and represented fairly. So... like WT, but with a soul. I think it would do well because A) we women love smut, B) romance novels are super mainstream, and C) people are a lot more conscientious about supporting ethical businesses. If I win the lottery, I'll hit you up :p

Gosh I’m so disappointed (not in you!). MPL was the webcomic that got me into webcomics! I have such love for it. I’m so sorry to see so many artists be burnt out of doing something they love. I’m also glad you didn’t rush the ending. When I first read this post my initial reaction was “I wish we could have gotten an ending!” But as I thought about it, it would have been a disservice to the story if you had had to rush an ending. I hope someday you’ll get to finish the story you’ve worked hard at creating. I also hope that with time that burnt out feeling will fade. Take care of yourself and I look forward to whatever comes next!

I understand other subscribers frustration, but I can’t believe some commenters don’t recognize how predatory WT has been. Doing your passion for a living sounds fun until a massive entity is breathing down your neck & forcing you to go at a pace you just CANT meet. Not to mention, the control they had over the art itself. I’d really love to see the MPL ending one day, but only if it’s on YOUR terms. You don’t deserve being pushed if you’re no longer passionate/ if WT bled your creative spark dry. I love your art & I’m excited to see what you can do when this pressure isn’t on you. Best of luck, rest well & see you soon! ❤️

I’m selfishly happy to hear this lol I could tell from the quality of MPL that the inspiration or something was just not the same as it was in the beginning. I will still be here to support!

First of all, you do not suck. Second, you do not have to relinquish the community, the fandom, your credibility, or your reputation. We love MPL, and it will be there and wonderful even if you never add anything else to it. Not adding to it doesn't mean that the things you've accomplished don't exist any more. You've made awesome art and made a living off of doing so, which is huge. Finding out that making art that way makes it not enjoyable to make the art is a perfect reason to switch gears since you have other ways to make a living. Art should be good for your soul, and if using it to make a living sucks the life out of you, it's best for you and your art to not put that pressure on it. We love you, and we love that you're doing what's best for you and your mental health. MPL pausing for good or ending is sad, but you take priority.

This is me probably being ignorany about Webtoon politics and contracts but couldn’t you post MPL here if you wanted? It was just a thought since I’ve seen other creators post stuff like their stories and updates on here. I am sorry to hear about your burnout though. I hope it doesn’y deter you for too long and you get back to what you love, even if it does just become a hobby. MPL is honestly what got me into Webtoons

D
DangoDani · November 1, 2024

I'm glad I was able to experience your work. A lot of comics I've read on Webtoon for years have been halted indefinitely. We can't really say what's going on behind the scenes in anyone's life or in contract negotiations, etc. It's kinda the downside of how media has shifted to sometimes just one person or a really small team trying to make it all work. All I can really do is hope for the best for you. And for entitled asshats to get over themselves.

I have been where you are. I am a writer and I signed a contract with a site to publish my story. They released half of my book with the intention to release the second half later. They never released the second half. I felt like I was screaming into the void. I had readers blaming me for not releasing the second half. It was depressing and it sucked the soul out of writing. It took 4 years of fighting and they finally rereleased my entire book last month. But 4 years is a little too late. Readers have moved on and forgotten my story. So I think understand deeply how you feel. That being said I’m devastated to not have a resolution to the story you were telling. Like many others it was the only one I bothered reading on webtoons. I won’t support that platform anymore. I hope you get your spark back one day. This is just sad to hear.

I'm sorry it happened to you too, but thank you for sharing. I've been pretty much on my own, having no fellow authors to discuss things with. So I appreciate the solidarity very much. 🖤 After an amount of time has passed, views solidify and minds are set, and no amount of explaining and clarifying from us would change anything, and that truly sucks. Webtoon has gained a reputation for exploiting their Originals creators, causing burnout and disillusionment for many. In such a toxic environment, it is hardly surprising that you lack motivation to continue, especially if you are also under the Webtoon contractual restriction not to publish MPL elsewhere for a certain number of years. I've been your Patron since Asura's Bride and intend to continue my support for your next project. Based on my extensive folder of "Secret Garden" files, I suspect you will continue to create things on your own terms once the deadline trauma subsides. In the meantime, I'll be patient and re-read "Princess of Mine" and your other lovely naughty sketches. Love you lots and wish you the best during your creative recovery time!

The good news (for you) s that you made a lot of money in exchange of nothing. You have not even kept up with what you promised in your patreon. Yes, I agree. Your reputation is awful. I discovered it during the pandemic, and believe me, it helped me keep going because I had something to look forward to. So, I was heartbroken when MPL went on hiatus, but I stayed optimistic, thinking it would only be for a short time. But now, since you’ve decided not to continue, I am devastated to learn we won’t see its ending. I completely understand, and I don’t hold anything against you for your decision. I hope everything goes well for you, and I wish you all the best! But I’ll keep hoping that one day, a spark might return, reigniting your passion to continue this story. An ad got me sucked in to MPL. I binge read parts of the first season in one night until 3AM and have followed since though the ups and downs. I find it immensely frustrating that A. I cannot own a hard copy of it to read when I please indefinitely, and who knows may eventually lose access entirely. And B. That I may never know what happens. I'm not like, upset with you, but this sucks. I think I'm done with webtoon in general. It amplifies the consumer frustration worse than tv and books and I saw those comment sections, seems at least toxic for authors from what little we see.

I think the webtoon model is unsustainable for most. I think you would need a large team sharing the burden to really make it work. Either that or spend a few years unpaid (totally doable, right?) finishing an entire story and then releasing weekly installments after the fact. While it's sad to see you take a step back from it all, it makes perfect sense.

K

Definitely sad to see the story go and be unfinished, but can only imagine the grief and pain that went into making that decision. I am grateful that I got to go along for the ride and experience the amazing transition in art and the growth of the story. Can’t wait to see what happens in any of the other work that you choose to do. However, please take care of yourself and your home becausewithout you or your home the stories in the art doesn’t happen.

You my dear, is the reason I’m in this comics universe. Since I found you through Asura’s Bride and then Midnight Poppy Land, I was hooked on this new world. And thanks to you my days came a little brighter by that time, I can’t believe it’s been already 4 years I found you, so my dear Lily I’m here with you no matter what 😉 . Mind you I’m over 50 and a grandma already kkk 😹, so let’s hold hands together and make it through thin or thick, I know you got this 😊. I am immensely grateful for the art and story you have invited us to enjoy. Nothing will change that. We put so much pressure on ourselves to deliver on commitments perfectly that we would never expect from anyone else. I hope you can let go of that guilt because you have truly done an amazing job. I am so very sorry to hear that you are suffering from corporate exploitation (what I call burnout). You do NOT suck. I'm still recovering myself without leaving (I work in STEM) and it's hard. Walking away and switching things up is the best thing you can do. Please do not let any misplaced guilt push you to create -anything.- Our love for something should never exceed our care for the people that make it possible, especially when it applies to ourselves. Wishing you a restful recovery and the joy of creating for just you. I'll be here if you choose to come back at a more reasonable level with whatever you want to do, but no pressure. You are an amazing, wonderful person and you matter most. 💕

I wish MPL could be put in book form. This way you own it outright. That is what the creator of "Let's Play" did. I understand what you are going through but I am also upset I don't get an ending to such a fantastic and fun story that I loved and looked forward to every week. I have been a Patreon for years and hope that you will be able to at least finish the story. I LOVE the characters, the art and most of all the story. Without rushing it maybe you can finish it up here on Patreon and screw Webtoons, lol.

A
Azraëla · October 31, 2024

you’re missing the point. webtoon as a shitty platform is an entirely separate issue. when the creative outlet you rely on to relax and unwind becomes your job that pays the bills, and people come to expect you to produce stuff that’s rapidly draining you with no way left to recharge, something’s gotta give. there comes a point where the outlet/project/thing you loved becomes a chore that just causes you stress and/or guilt because you feel you’re not meeting others’ expectations, and you have to set it aside for however long is necessary, even if it ends up being forever. besides, how do you know she won’t wind up creating something new you’ll love even more, except as a *hobby*, in a *healthy* way? 🙂

It’s important to put yourself first. It’s difficult sometimes and it’s a struggle to not feel guilty over, but it’s important. You can’t pour water from an empty cup. I hope whatever next steps you take are free of the burden this has become. And I hope that you find relief and happiness, even if it isn’t through art. Tora, Poppy, and all your characters and stories are something I’ll cherish as is for a long time. So thank you for all of it.

Lily Dusk. I got in to Webtoons 4 years ago. ❤️ I have loved Midnight Poppy land for it got me through difficult situations. It got me through depression and when my mom passed away last year I was re reading it all. I want for you to be happy and do what makes you happy. In a way you already gave us a happy ending with them moving in together. I won't lie, it breaks my heart but it also makes me feel some kind of joy because now you won't dread your days. I won't lie, MPL was the reason I got in to webtoons and it unlocked a world of so Many stories I did not know existed. I will always love Tora poppy and quincy and you. I already saw this coming with so many artist leaving Webtoons for the same reason I knew it was going to happen. I would love to know if poppy and tora get married. But I also want to hear about your house renovations. ^^ So I am here for the ride for as long as I can afford it. Lily Senpai, Good afternoon and Happy Halloween 🎃👻 I can only image how tough it is to "depart" in some way with a piece of your soul. As a veterinary professional, I kinda get what you are saying about the company sucking away at your soul. The passion is there and will always be there, even if manifest in a different form of art. You are an amazing artist and just because you left a piece unfinished does not take away or discredit anything you have already posted or published. If there was a way to print MPL, I would totally buy it, especially if it will eventually be archived on Webtoon. However, as a loyally paying patron... I feel compelled to ask, is there no way you can finish the story on here? At your own pace, no deadlines or expectations; just to give closure to those of use who would appreciate it. If not, I hope that my words have conveyed the respect I hold for you as an artist anyways. Thank you, sincerely, for creating MPL and taking me on that journey with you. 💜

Perfectly said , I definitely agree WHOLEHEARTEDLY with everything said here as I feel the same way . Obviously not anytime soon but I too have seen other creators post on patreon their stories . But it also may be a legal issue with webtoon so can’t rule that issue out either unfortunately.

enjoying someone else’s creative work is a privilege, not a right, and as much as i’d sell my soul to see it to the end, i’m here because i absolutely lose my marbles over literally everything you produce—masterpieces and napkin scribbles alike. i totally get what a thrilling yet crippling experience it is to try making a living off the thing you turn to for relaxation. it’s *so hard* to draw a line between the self care tool and the responsibility—and it can get exhausting carrying a heavy burden like expectations back and forth across the bridge between work and play. have you ever read the artist’s way by julia cameron? it’s a bit new-agey lol but it’s a valuable read that talks about the necessity of “refilling the well” and tending to the nourishment and wellbeing of your creative self like an inner child. highly recommend. 🙂 anyway, i’m here for the long haul and can’t wait to see what kind of magic happens when your “well” becomes a spring again! 💖

@lilydusk I am so happy to have found MPL and your works - and YOU. Please don’t think that you’ve relinquished anything with this decision - the MPL fandom and this community adore you (I read the comments preceding mine and cite those as evidence!) and, as far as I’m concerned, this cements your credibility as a creator determined to only produce genuine works. Your reputation is pristine in my books (fwiw). Real life doesn’t have neat and tidy endings and HEAs. Our lives continue after major life events and people come and go in and out of our lives.. So, to me, it’s fine that the audience doesn’t get a near or tidy conclusion to Poppy and Tora’s stories. Their (yes, fictional) lives were always going to stretch beyond the comic end in the fandom’s imagination (assuming they weren’t killed off!) and the greedy audience that we are, we would’ve always wanted more. This is a sloppy way of me trying to say: unfinished stories are natural and real and please don’t feel any guilt over letting the audience drop out of Poppy and Tora’s lives (yes, I know it’s fiction, I swear) at this point. I somewhat hope you don’t read all these comments and never get to mine - I hope you are doing well and were able to chase away any feelings of guilt or defeat. Sending you love and all the warm fuzzies ❤️

K
Kira · October 31, 2024

I think I understand.. but it breaks my heart to read this announcement. It freakin' hurts 😭 I'd love at least to know the finale so I could get some closure on the masterpiece that affected me so deeply. I'm really attached to MPL, emotionally invested in these characters who've helped me to see and manage my own issues in real life. This is the first and only story that made me want to support the creator and join the community... I've been reading and rereading it since I discovered it... I was about to pre-order it in hardcover on Amazon... I will still hope that one day the complete story gets published, one way or the other... Anywhere, I'd buy it in any format, any source as it is so dear to my heart... And it truly deserves to be seen by as many people as possible! I'm sad about MPL (because I love it), but I'm not the least bit surprised by this news. I'm actually surprised that there aren't more creators walking away from Webtoon, but that's a whole different discussion. And I'd rather miss out on MPL if it means we don't miss out on you. You and your health and well-being are much more important than a comic, even one that is much beloved as MPL. As much as it stings knowing my all time favorite comic is on an indefinite hiatus, I completely understand. ♥️ your mental health comes first 100% of the time. I'm so sorry you went through everything you did to bring us mpl. Personally, it was the very first webtoon to draw me in and hit home with a few things. It was and still is my all time favorite. I exited a horrible relationship of being treated like dirt, cheated on, left to deal with losing my son by myself, and had to pick myself up and keep moving forward. 2 months later I met my rough around the edges, foul mouthed husband who gave me that sense of security and love i so desperately needed even though it was foreign to him coming from an abusive childhood. That was 11.5 years ago now. So as a lot of the themes were different, it still hit home very hard for me. When i found mlp it helped me pull through the flash backs, the self doubt, and brought me a sense of comfort. So I just want to say thank you. Your art and creative spirit helped me more than you could ever know. I know I'm not going anywhere and I'm looking forward to tour new chapter. Please take care of yourself and keep moving forward.

Even though it was a difficult decision, and another difficult one to tell everyone, I'm glad you did because I couldn't count how many webtoons I've started reading and are just sitting there for years with zero communication and no more episodes. So while it's tough to not know what would've happened, it makes it better to know it's done. 🙂

It's sad that it's come yo an end, but did you consider publishing your work so we could buy a physical copy to further support you? I know a lot goes into it but it's a thought. Will always love your art!

I'm sad we live in a world that drains so many of us of our spark. I went through a rough period several years ago that made me question if I wanted to be a therapist anymore. Turns out, it was the exploitative place I worked that was killing my soul. I got out and found my passion again, thank fuck. All this to say, I hope this last chain breaking helps you find your creative voice again. No matter what it entails. 💜💜💜

Taking time to stop and reflect is needed sometimes. I am heartbroken not gonna lie but I am so happy with all the spoils you’ve given us over the years I can’t wait to see what is coming 😭😭😭🥹

I kind of feel silly asking, and someone please tell me if I'm way out of line, but would you ever consider sharing with us what major plot points you had planned out for MPL?

This! I would love have few lignes to explain and to know the end! As a reader, it would make things easier to move on

If this is the best decision for your it's the best decision. You need to be the priority!

I hope one day we will see the end of MPL and Asuras bride. Started this journey with you when I was in my teens, and now I’m in my 20s. Here for a long time for you Lily! I hope you get more time now to focus on you !

One if the best things about this community is the support for you and others and the genuine realness. I won't lie and say I'm not sad about MPL, however, don't feel like you need to beat yourself up over prioritizing yourself. I'll be sticking around for the art and feel good chatter. I hope you feel some sense of relief. 💜

It sucks that something you love has made you feel that way. Here for whatever ride share you throw out there.💯❤️

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVEEEEEEE YOUUUU. Sometimes making that decision -whatever it is you've been putting it off (royal "you") - is whats needed! I'm glad you've come to a decision! Also the "making art every day still" is definitely a guilt response. I do it too- just not with art. Sometimes we feel more like were disappointing others than we are. My therapist once said "Your actions/words are not as important as you think they are to others" and then was horrified that she said it LOL but it was the best thing she ever said to me and it makes me laugh still when I overthink things and feel guilt. We love you! But you're not disappointing us (well, not me at least!) and I'm hoping your life is full of things you WANT to share at some point in time, not something you feel you have to <3

Also please take care of your house. We'd like you not to have to live on a box on the streets- even if your kitties would love that.

As much as my heart is breaking, I understand. And I’m thankful to have ever read any of mpl as it was truly my favorite comic in the whole world, I appreciated the opportunity you gave us all to step into that world for whatever time we had with it and the characters. I’m wishing you peace & love, I will continue to stay on this journey with you as I’ve come to love more than mpl, but you! Always rooting for you and will always be here as a supportive fan. 🫶🏻

Hey, you do what you need to do to keep yourself healthy and un-stressed. It’s a lot of mental work to take something you love and monetize it, and if you no longer feel that love, maybe it is time to take that step back so you can learn to love your art again. Some of us will definitely still be hanging around to see what you come up with when you don’t feel the pressure of the “required work” anymore. 🙂

😭😭 Sad to see the stress this has caused you and that MPL will have to be indefinitely paused.

Your mental health takes priority. I know there was a lot riding on this decision and it had to be super hard to make. I'm sorry you were in that position, but your happiness is most important.

My heart is broken, but I understand. You must do what’s best for you, and I could tell you were struggling with MPL for a while. I’ll miss Tora and Poppy with all my soul 🤎 take care of you
