Vexxx v1.3 Release Notes

Thank you for your support. v1.3 is the biggest Vexxx release yet — spanning new major features, deep UI polish, performance wins, and a fully rebuilt interactive experience. I am putting v1.3 through its final paces now and hope to have a release early next week.

Cheers!

What's New in v1.3

Improved VR Experience

v1.3 ships with the attempt to move VR media to first class. Store a vr_mode flag per scene so VR content is always played back correctly. Filter scenes by VR mode in the scene list. The video player handles the mode switch non-destructively — changing to VR during playback doesn't persist unless you want it to.

DeoVR integration is also included: a built-in localtunnel relay give your Stash library the ability to communicate properly with DeoVR over HTTPS, with per-performer and per-studio allowlists to control what's visible.

Handy API v3

The Handy integration has been completely rewritten around the official v3 REST API:

  • Full TypeScript HandyAPIv3 class — HAMP, HSSP, HDSP, HVP, HSP, server-time sync, emergency stop

  • HSSP sync via setFunscriptUrl/play/stop with reconnect handling and state preservation

  • HAMP autopilot fallback when no funscript is present

  • Direct control modal — HDSP pattern library for manual stroke control without a funscript

  • Resync timer and server clock synchronization

  • Interactive controls overlay visible inside the video player (no need to leave fullscreen

Scene-Level Funscript & Caption Management

Funscripts and captions are now manageable at the scene level directly from the edit panel. A new has_funscript filter criterion lets you build playlists and filtered views of content with interactive support.

AI Recommendations

The Recommendations page now uses three complementary signals to surface content you'll actually want to watch:

  • pHash visual similarity — finds scenes that look like ones you've engaged with

  • Co-occurrence — finds scenes that appear alongside your favourites in playlists and groups

  • HSV colour histogram — matches scenes with a similar visual palette

On top of that: Completion weighting (scenes you finish rank higher), and a full dismiss/like feedback loop so the engine learns your preferences. Dismissed scenes are tracked and won't resurface.

File Browser

A fully-featured file browser is now built into Vexxx. Browse your library paths directly from the UI with:

  • Sortable columns, search filter, full-path tooltips

  • Preview thumbnails for scenes, images, and galleries

  • Right-click context menu for per-file actions

  • Bulk multi-select and move operations

  • Grid view with persistent layout toggle

  • Details panel with enriched metadata

  • StashTag AI analysis — select a file and let the AI suggest tags

Smart Playlists

Playlists can now be driven by dynamic criteria rather than a manually curated list. Define filters (performers, tags, studio, rating, etc.) and the playlist populates itself automatically. Playlist cards are redesigned with media carousels and hover previews.

Analytics Dashboard

A new Statistics page gives you a real breakdown of your library:

  • Scene, performer, studio, tag, and image counts with trend indicators

  • Library breakdown by duration, file size, resolution, and codec

  • Most-played scenes carousel (replaces the old plain list)

  • Play history and rating distribution charts

Multi-User Authentication

Full multi-user support is now production-ready. Create and manage users from the Settings panel, assign roles, and Vexxx will enforce access control throughout the UI. Auth-aware components adapt based on the current user's permissions. Correctly handles the edge case where auth is disabled after users exist (no more locked-out settings page).

Auto-Identify Pipeline

The phash-and-identify flow is now a proper concurrent pipeline. Phash generation and Identify tasks are batched and queued so they don't step on each other. A new Scan → Auto-Identify toggle in Scan options lets you kick off identification automatically after phashes are generated — zero manual steps.

Studio identify chips appear in real time on scene cards as identification resolves. Studio cascade delete is also available: removing a studio can now cascade to its scenes.

Real-Time File Watcher

A Go-native file watcher (replacing the old polling approach) detects new files as they land in your library paths and queues them for scanning automatically. New scenes appear in your library without needing to trigger a manual scan.

Performance & Stability

Generate parallelism explosion fixed — The previous phash implementation spawned 25 goroutines per task on top of the outer sizedwaitgroup, causing multiplicative FFmpeg process explosions under full generate loads. Reverted to sequential screenshot extraction; the outer semaphore already provides the right parallelism level.

Clean tasks dramatically faster — The Clean and Clean Generated task paths have been significantly optimized.

ZIP scanning optimized — Zip contents are now only re-iterated when the container hash actually changes, not on every rescan. Large gallery collections see a major reduction in scan time.

Backend hardening — Context propagation fixed throughout, HTTP timeouts added to scraper clients, SQL injection protection on isMissing filters, GraphQL query complexity limit (750) to prevent recursive relation abuse, per-file panic recovery in scan workers.

UI & UX Polish

  • Settings panels — Scrapers, Stash-box, and Logs panels upgraded to MUI Tables, Chips, and Paper. Log level filtering fixed (Progress was always hidden due to a missing enum entry).

  • Scene, Gallery, Image detail panels — Full MUI Table rewrites with proper section headings, Dividers, and scrollable tag/performer sections.

  • Tag tooltips — PopoverCountButton icon+count badges; tag image always visible.

  • Scene Markers tab — Rebuilt as a structured MUI Table with chronological sorting, fixed-width columns, and tag overflow indicators.

  • Inline filter sidebar — Always-visible framed panel replacing the collapsible drawer.

  • Settings sidebar — Sticky left nav with scrollable right column.

  • Job Table — Redesigned as a terminal-style display with sub-task history persistence.

  • SFW Mode — Per-entity blur toggles and hero banner suppression.

  • Primary tag nullable — Deleting a tag no longer blocks if it's a marker's primary tag; the FK is cleared via ON DELETE SET NULL.
