The Annual Square Enix Letter From Hell (The Jimquisition)

2024 is now grimly underway, and we have our traditional annual statement/threat from Square Enix, promising yet more terrible futures that we do not want. Let's mock and hate Square Enix's horrid plans to exploit A.I. and other tech fads while asking why they're not creaming their jeans about NFTs anymore!

I have been working in communication of academic science for over a decade. Recently I worked with a group of 25 public partners to develop an easily understood summary for a complex project involving social housing residents’ data. A senior manger at my university commented on the summary saying that this will be a role for AI in future. Good luck fellow humans.

Until AI can appreciate the artistic majesty of boglins it's not worth having around.

Do we know with certainty that this letter wasn’t written by ChatGPT as an unironic demonstration of their commitment to using it?

Ah, the empty language of legalese non-statements. Thank God for Steph sitting through these presentations and sacrificing her mental state for us.

In going through the letter, all I heard was Weird Al Yankovic's song "Mission Statement"...it's definitely clear that the New Boss (same as the old boss) was writing the letter to shareholders, not customers, since customers want "enjoyable games" and the letter makes no reference to plans of that nature.

Nice The Who reference. I think too many people stopped getting the message of that song after CSI Miami memes took over the internet.
