The Social Shitshow Cycle (The Jimquisition)
THQ Nordic held an AMA this week. THQ Nordic apologized for the AMA about an hour later. If you've not heard why, prepare yourself for a wild ride!
This isn't the first apology a game publisher has had to make for social engagement gone horribly wrong. Why does it keep happening? Well, that "social" word may have something to do with it.
Whether companies are employing edgelords, believe all publicity is good, or just plain dumb, we're going to have a very late-2010s discussion about it.

Jim, you (and other video game sites I looked this up on) should remember that not everyone knows what an AMA is. I didn’t. I still don’t. Although I do understand the point of your opinion video regardless, I think you could have been more clear with what the AMA was for and indeed what that acronym means. Don’t forget to include all possible viewers!
It's always amusing to me when I stumble on a conversation with the theme of: 'it doesn't matter if the people who are trying to sell you something try to sound cool. You still need to remember that they are trying to sell you something.'

Before watching this video, when I think of AMA, I associate it with reddit because I imagine it to be a great site to ask questions. After this video, 8chan? Fucking 8chan!? I did not know that site hosts hate speech and child porn but if 4chan is bad, 8chan would have already sound worse from my first impression.<br><br>Miss hearing Stress being the intro song as I find it more appropriate for the carnival theme than Born Depressed. I can only get that on unexpected Jimquisitions but I do not want the industry to keep fucking up.<br><br>Everyone should watch HBomberguy's "Woke Brands" video (and some of his other videos). It is eye opening.
[/pause video/] What on God's Green Earth were they thinking?!! I don't see how the Triple A games industry can outdo itself on this issue. Perhaps EA could tattoo swastikas onto it's CEO's faces and turn it's HQ into a museum dedicated to anti-abortion campaigning and holocaust denial. Why wouldn't the ethics committee people nuke this idea immediately? THQ Nordic <i>does</i> have an ethics committee, right? What the hell happened?! Oh god, there isn't a 16chan is there?

Well, what can one expect... if you only ever hire trainees or graduates into PR and Marketing to save a buck, you get what you actually paid for.
Honestly marketing is just dead now. Get some famous people to plug your stuff and hope for the best. Sponsoring a youtube video is always a good way cause it's permanent
