Ashen - The Dark Souls Of Dark Souls (Jimpressions)
Ashen isn't trying to hide the fact it's exactly Dark Souls. It's Dark Souls, people! And that's... fine?
Perhaps the best Soulslike ever, Ashen understands From Software's formula better than many other pretenders.

I don't know, it does look great and I am gonna give it a go but so far the best Soulslike that isn't from By Software, errr... by From Software, at least for me, is Nioh.
Well maybe that's partly because of the setting and/or aesthetic. Nioh, to me, feels like Dark Souls with more plot in stead of mainly lore, that also kinda feels like a spiritual successor to the beloved Onimusha series (which did punishingly hard but fair and methodic combat way before From Software made it cool again) but with the stealth possibilities of a Tenchu game... gosh, I love Nioh...
Cool, this looks like my kind of Souls-clone!
Well at least they pulled it off then. 🙂 Much better than the myriad of other "Dark Souls clones" that don't understand why Dark Souls is Dark Souls.
