Laura is in a rather infamously fillery part of ARR, it's actually even been cut down a bit from it's original state. Just got to power through, titan is the most obvious bit of "we are desperately trying to rebuild and relaunch the game and need quantity over quality so pack it full of silly filler!" that'll rear it's head a couple times before heavensward. Once you get to the 2.4 patch, there is a very clear line where the filler mostly disappears, the narrative gets a lot more focused and the quality and creativity of the writing improves dramatically. ARR is still fun, especially in it's third act, but the stuff that makes the game truly special comes after the game had successfully relaunched and they could slow down a bit. In particularly heavensward and shadowbringers. The combat is also a lot more fun at high levels, as they tend to rebalance it for max level each expansion leaving low levels feel a little basic. (though combat is getting a dramatic rework in the next expansion, so who knows how that'll feel) Don't rush it, enjoy your time here and there and you'll get to the really good stuff soon enough.
I hate to be the guy who comments just to recommend a game, but I've been obsessed with Mortal Shell 2 and am curious of your thoughts. It's a vast improvement over the, honestly quite dreary, Mortal Shell (the first).
