Stephanie, Laura, Conrad - thank you for more than a decade of writing and recordings. I have learned much from you, been entertained, been outraged with you, celebrated, and also depressed. I have not always agreed with you, which pushed me to question my opinions, and my understanding of things. That was always Ok. Great even! Until this episode; this episode was dreadful and just an insult to our (and your) intelligence. I realize that Podquisition is not objective coverage of games and news, but it always felt like you tried to get the facts straight. Instead, this time we got a lot of self-congratulatory vitriol; it was just as bad as the stuff that usually comes from the people you deride and criticize. Neither the discussion of "Horses", nor the discussion on Larian and gen. AI were "on point". Do I generally agree with the views you have on the topic? Yes. But hearing you talk about it and how, almost makes me wish I did not. Not all books, movies, TV series are available in all of the stores or services. And they have to adhere to rules and standards that (so far) a lot of video games have not had to in most countries. Doesn't mean "Horses" should not be sold on a platform like Steam, but rather that the one-size-fits-all approach needs reviewing. And when covering a story about gen. AI, you can do better than misquoting someone, just because his title is (also) "CEO", especially before launching into another vitriol-filled tirade like a Fox News pundit. I obviously need a break from you all, so for now I am leaving the listening audience. Keep up the good work you do, and please no more slop like this. And Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
Okay, first of all, thank god for Stephanie. Please understand I mean this with love, but their take on the "Horses" situation is misguided. Nobody is saying the game shouldn't exist, Steam is not an art gallery. Art can push boundaries, sure, Alan Moore can paint naked vampire kids to challenge the taboo against imaginary abuse or whatever, but they don't have to sell those paintings at Tesco, you know?
