Shut The F*ck Up, Videogames!
It's Reyn time! Show me what you've got! Sumfink a bit meatier! A bit o' poison on my blade, and let's go! The games, they keep on talking, and yet they've nothing to say. We need more settings that let you customize NPC chatter, because the sonic torture needs to end!

Instantly made me this of a ProZD skit https://youtu.be/688z-4SWxOQ?si=83C_AwJBizglNFBX
IIRC, Horizon: Forbidden West had an early game patch that added the ability to lessen/turn off Aloy's "player hint" dialogue.
Good npc banter can greatly enhance gameplay and make for memorable moments and beloved characters. I love the banter in left 4 dead. Too much inane banter is maddening. I didn't expect zman zilla's remix to be fire.
It feels like forever since I've seen Whybird.
Anyone who's had to grind the same area for 100 hours begins to loathe every sound the loop makes. The enemies make the same death sounds, the music is on the same damn loop, the terrain never changes. That's a fundamentally different issue though.
Very glad to see you touching on this topic as it drives me insane. I think we should also extend a similar idea to visual novels. Studios like Spike Chunsoft are especially guilty of this. It's like they're being paid by the word and every conversation takes ten times as long to get to the point as it should while adding nothing. The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles was also a problem in this regard where you spend more time with pointless conversations than investigating and being an attorney. A truly terrible trend.

I've come up with a new recipe!
