A Video Reminder For Those About To Be Scammed By A Digital Deluxe Edition (The Jimquisition)
Digital Deluxe Editions? What a con! Stephanie Sterling? What a mark! We all need reminders sometimes that a scam is a scam, no matter how alluring an exclusive outfit they try to swindle you with. This video lays out exactly why you shouldn't be suckered in.

Is there a reason that Steph hasn't talked about the Stop Killing Games campaign that Ross Scott from Accursed Farms started? Or did I miss it somehow?
Couldn't agree more about the cosmetics. Visual options are far and away the most desirable rewards for me in any game. (And I suspect I'm not alone in this. And the publishers know that.) As such, I absolutely hate it when games sell "it's just cosmetics", because that usually means the majority of the interesting looking stuff not only costs extra - it's available immediately with zero "effort". In the end I either miss out on one of the most enjoyable aspects of the game, or I pay up (and hate me for it) and just drop the "final reward" into my lap. Plus, then I kinda experience your deluxe skin syndrome.
Lobsterling is the crustacean hero we need!
"I am a consumer whore, and how!" "Rejected" reference? I heeded the warnings and haven't pre-ordered or purchased any kind of special edition for yonks. Fallout 4 one was the last time and at least I got the cool, wearable Pip-Boy. The Mass Effect 3: N7 Collectors Edition wasn't bad either, even though it also meant I got to see the crappy ending a bit earlier than most!
Lobsterling is all well and good but how do we unlock the Surprise Mechanic skin?
Haven't watched today's video yet so you may touch on this, but I like when you can purchase a DDE as an add-on after the fact like in the case of BG3. Bought it just before I started my third and current playthrough to support Larian. This of course is an extreme edge case. It's the rare game where I'd be motivated to do this (or play for 600 hours haha).
