1.2 Sneak
A few samurai households, along with the Imperial Prince and Princess from the Nihon portion of my save file.
The Emperor and Empress will not be included, initially because I haven’t been able to find suitable CC for the Empress’ hair T–T. But given their absence from the save, I decided to reimagine my Japanese-inspired world.
Lore-wise, Mt. Komorebi is a remote border town, far from both Kyoto and Edo. It is home to rural samurai who never relocated to the great castle towns. Within the wider structure of the empire, they are considered low-ranking, and are often looked down upon by the urban elite. The Shogunate views these provincial samurai with suspicion; as they are removed from the strict order of the cities, they are seen as undisciplined, and almost “part-time” in their duties.
As a result, two members of the Imperial family, having overstepped the boundaries of their ceremonial role, have been sent to reside here - officially to observe the town on behalf of the court, but in reality a form of quiet exile. This allows for the world and its Sims to feel more close-knit with a focus on intimate household stories instead of a large-scale political lore. Along with the common families also in the world, there are family dramas, romances, and aspirations you can complete/interact with.
The only real mention of politics in Nihon is with the Imperial Prince and Princess, who resent the cowardly Emperor who has basically yielded all imperial power to the Shogunate. They don't intend to remain here forever. They desire to escape exile and return to Kyoto to dethrone their father and overthrow the Shogun. In the meantime, though, they might as well get to know their new townspeople.
There are a few ryokans in town for your Joseon sims to pay a visit, too.
