Moving Away Pangs 🚚📦
This mod is purely for storytelling and for sims who are moving away from town.
Must-have packs: Life and Death and Parenthood
When I was a teen, I moved across the world and it was a big change. I remember being sad for some time and all the emotions of moving away. I felt a fun mod would be nice to bring such an important moment to the sims. The game acknowledges a move with a milestone, but we need mooooore~~
This mod comes with 20 social interactions, 40 buffs, and 10 notifications.
So, I broke it into a TWO sections:
Before the Move
After the Move
Before the Move Interactions:
Announce the Move (Two interactions)
One is for Young Adults to Elder to announce friends/family
One is for Young Adults to announce it to their child/teen
The Young Adult to Elder sim can share the news with their Child. This will give your sim a secret trait called MOVING AWAY PANGS which will unlock all the interactions for the mod. Your sim can also announce this news to fellow Young Adults to Elder that are close friends/family and they will also feel a way about it.
Pie Menu: Questions
Once the Child/Teen receives the news, they can ask questions.
What about my school?
What about my clubs?
But this is home? I don't want to leave!

Introduction
Your sim will handshake with a sim in their new town. There's a chance the sim may not accept your handshake. This also comes with a fun notification and buff.

I have made peace with the move
If your sim has made peace with the move, all the interactions for the mod will no longer be in your pie menu and you have announce the move interaction available only. Only the child/teen can make peace with the move for now since the mod is mostly their perspective.
JUUUUST as I was like I'm done with the mod... my mind was like girl you need two more interactions. So I compromised on making them because I didn't want to go past 6 pages because I didn't want this mod to be too big. Long story short,

Your parent sim should announce the move to the child or teen sim. Then the interactions should appear 💗

hey sorry so for the required packs how would it effect it if you don't have it? will it just be buggy?
I own all the packs, I can’t speak for it fully, but I hid interactions under pack codes, so they won’t appear at all for you. I plan to make a base game compatible version in a few weeks/months 🫂

This isn't working. The parent can tell the child but they do not get the menu for the other interactions.
So the parent told the child sim, and your sim won’t get the new interactions? Have you told them the interaction again? Did the announce the move interaction still show up?

sigh does it work without the required packs
I’ll try to make a bgc version in a few weeks/months 💗. The pack interactions won’t show up Example the interaction “ I miss home but”—> this one uses life and death pack’s animation and won’t appear in game if you don’t own that pack.

Does must-have mean required or recommended? I have parenthood but I don't want to get life and death.
It uses animations from that pack, so the interactions won’t appear for you. Like the one I miss home but (it’s a sim crying and then going in for a hug and being comforted).
I don't use storytelling per se, but my Sims live little lives nonetheless. And I love this! I can't wait to add it to my game.

ohh i like this, can you also add positive moodlets? like, that some sims hate it but other sim love it? (maybe depending on their traits and whether they have good friends, reputation etc? )
I hear you, and I would love to do the positive aspect of moving away, but this mod is called Move Away Pangs. Therefore, I’d have to rework the entire mod to change it. I may do this in the future and call it Move Away Overhaul or something to cover these aspects of the move 💗💗

WOW!!! This is so so so so good!!! I can't wait to have it and test!!! A little question I have is, could you add like good initial reactions to it... lets think about a child/teen who is actually not feeling good where they live and someone tells them "we are moving"... that child/teen could be excited instead of asking sad questions... Also another question that comes to my mind is "when is happening?" or similar. Of course we don't need a exact date but yet could be fun to have some options like "next week" "in few days" or similar... Oh and something that could be funny to add is like the "i can't fit everything in a bag to move" or "i think i lost something in my moving"... haha i'm just thinking in funny things that also could happen while moving... BUT I LOVE LOVE LOVE this idea and as I said, i can't wait to try it in my saves!!!! ACTUALLY, this is perfect for a story I'm about to start where my sim is moving and the parents are not happy with it haha...
Oh for sure good reactions on a future update then. I was thinking about the emotional side of moving and the journey of acceptance. I may have to rename the mod or something to consider a vast emotions. I'll definitely come back to this post and write notes on what was written when I plan that update tysm for all the love and ideas♥

It won’t appear. I used the life and death reach out animation for a few interactions and used its pack code.
Hi! I really love the idea of this mod! I saw your reply explaining that V1 is mainly focused on children and teens, and it made me wonder if you would ever be interested in doing something similar focused on Young Adults through Elders. I’m currently creating a Gap Year challenge, and my main Sim is a Young Adult leaving her family home to travel and live on her own for the first time. I would love for her to experience all those mixed feelings too... excitement about her independence, saying goodbye to family and friends, missing home after leaving, talking to her parents about how she is doing, feeling homesick, and eventually feeling that her new life is becoming home. I think this could also be fantastic for many different Sims stories, like leaving home for university, moving for a relationship or a job, starting over somewhere new, or even moving somewhere new after retirement. If this is something you might be interested in developing, please feel free to message me here on Patreon. I’d be very happy to chat more about the idea with you!
Aww for sure! I’ll consider making the update for this around March 2027. I still have a list of mods to work on until then. I wanted to explore university version of moving away, so gap year sounds unique and I really like that. I love this! YES 🙂↕️. However: I am not 100% sure from the text: this is, or is not, exclusively for Teens? Can young adults / adults / elders move out? Thank you for such a complex storytelling mod 😊 much needed!
V1 heavily focuses on Teen and Child sims. Young Adult to Elder sims have three interactions: Announce move (to fellow sims), Say Goodbye, and Vent About Child. These three interactions are meant for fellow YA to Elders. There are some interactions for parent to child like the new town pie menu has 3 interactions. Child and teen sims have the most interactions and yes the mod is mostly focused on them and their perspective on the move. I do plan to make more in the future. Btw I want to make an autonomous version for you. I will email it to you. Please send a reply/dm your email so you can tell me how the autonomous one pairs with your game. I’ll make the interaction that unlocks the mod nonautonomous, so sims don’t do too much lol

No, but I should write that down for a future update. I wonder if they can do that with Social Bunny if they get the move away milestone? I'll definitely add it to my file though on things to add tysm♥
This is actually insane in a good way. I was just thinking about a mod like this and was hoping someone could make a mod that incorporates moving for the first time especially in family gameplay. I can relate because i had military parents that let me travel the world and move around and definitely was a challenge but overall grateful during those times. Thank you for this. Will definitely use it for my saves.
