Update
Hello all. It's been a busy and tough stretch in the past weeks, but I wanted to check in and provide an update about some things.
Over the past month or so, I've been working on getting the new Cool Zone show ready to go, and that has taken up a lot of my mental and creative energy. I wish that I had the infinite energy and time to do all of the things that I want, but sadly that's not the case, so there was just no way to juggle everything I wanted to juggle.
Things are moving along nicely, so I wanted to provide an update about the state of things. The new show, Knowledge Fight Country, will start releasing October 14. It will be a show that releases weekly on Wednesdays. There may be additional episodes released, but there will be at least one a week.
The show will be using the same RSS feed from the old show, so if you're subscribed already, the new episodes should pop up once they start releasing. To be totally clear, the old episodes will stay up forever, and will never be altered or have any commercials added to them. There is no situation where those will ever be sold.
The first few episodes of the show are recorded and I'm excited for them to come out.
The show will focus on the larger world of the type of bullshit media that Alex Jones swam in, instead of really being so laser-focused on Infowars itself. Beyond that, much of the structure and approach will be the same, and I'm sure I'll end up covering Alex more than I should. I'll have a guest on every episode, with guests ideally joining the show for a month-long stint, to give them a chance to get a little adjusted to the content and reflect on it past what one episode can provide.
Show Me State of Mind will continue, and I would like to say that I will have at least one episode a month. Depending on my schedule and ability to travel, they may come out more frequently than that, but that pace could be hard to keep up.
There are two other very exciting projects I've been working on that I hope I'll be able to talk more about in the near future. Beyond that, the substacks will continue to the extent that I'm able. A lot of that was designed to give myself a creative outlet that wasn't right-wing media focused in the immediate aftermath of the show ending, and now that I'm back to doing the work that I feel most connected to, I'm not sure I want to host Survivor anymore. Season 51 just started, and Jeff Probst seemed a little angry about the fans, so I liked seeing that fire. Maybe that's as good as it's gonna get.

I enjoyed the first episode but I'll also wait for an ad-free option. I paid for KF for years even though it was already free so I'm happy to resub, but I refuse to listen to anything with ads on principle.

Just in case anyone was confused like I was, the old episodes of KF are still up ad free on a separate RSS feed under “knowledge fight”. I’m glad they’re still there. I was quite taken aback when I thought they were behind a paywall

I'm thrilled that you're continuing in the same vein as before, Dan. I was so bummed when you ended the original show. Also! It looks like the back catalog of Knowledge Fight is missing from apple podcasts since some recent change took place. What happened? I still have hundreds of old episodes I want to listen to. It's a sickness, I know.
Hey Dan. You said the old episodes will always be available. I’ve been going backwards from when i started listening to you during covid. Yesterday i went to try to open #265 and it wouldn’t download to my phone or really get it to play. It has a “subscriber only” flag and when I tap it I get a screen demanding I subscribe to Cool Zone for $5 per month. So I guess the old KF shows are not available anymore, even to an old Policy Wonk like me?
Same - only the handful of KF episodes I had downloaded are still available to me, nearly all are gone from PocketCasts (I use the wonk rss feed for it)

So excited to hear your political commentary is coming back with Knowledge Fight Country, especially hearing you'll be doing it with Cool Zone Media - I originally found knowledge fight through Behind the Bastards so it's almost like seeing a family come together haha. I recently heard your appearance on the QAA podcast, and was like YO!!! when I heard the counting crows parody that came up - I've since changed my patreon name, but it was originally, specifically for KF: "Mr. Jones and me, look into the deep state, yeah we, stare at the dastardly globalists. We love you Dan. Never thought I'd be part of a cult, yet here we are. I'd probably follow you anywhere. One thing I'm really looking forward to is the rotating host concept. Your appearances on other shows after KF finished was my first introduction to QAA and IHBM, so I'm curious what else I'm missing out on out there. Post 2016 my media diet swung super right wing in an attempt to break out of my bubble, but even tame shit like the Ricochet podcast was insufferable. KF sated that desire, and I'm looking forward to KFC being a fitting sequel.
As someone who has been haunted by whispers of Survivor since grade school and still has not seen an episode the Substack has utterly delighted me. I feel like a videogame character discovering a scheming advisor's lost notes about a ruined castle. I think Jack LaRoche would make a lovely cohost! (Honestly I think she'd be a delight on Show Me State of Mind as well). I...really struggled with CZM and their ads. I get it, and Luckily Spotify's skip feature has gotten a lot better! KF really was just that special, and it means a lot that your keeping the old feed free so it can stay that way <3

I wish you would leave the KF feed as it is for historical sake. The parallel between Clear Channel taking over independent/local communities with the goal of serving ads to them via local radio stations (and their transmitters), and iHeartMedia taking over independent communities with the goal of serving ads to them via podcasters (and their RSS feeds) is not lost to me. A huge amount of gratitude to you for all that you did, and I hope this is a very fulfilling endeavor for you. But, I will not support that corporation.

I’ve been in denial since KF ended, still haven’t listened to the final episode, I just went back and started from episode 1, I currently have about 30 mins left in the endgame documentary (part 5)…. KFC will be ad-free on CZM+. I will do everything in my power to make sure that ads are unintrusive and as well-placed as possible.
