Taking a small break/pausing the patreon
Hi! To get straight to the point, I've decided to temporarily pause my patreon. Billing won't start again until I finish my next video, the one discussing how to break plateaus in aimtrainers.
My reasoning for this is twofold. Personally, I don't feel like I've been doing as much as I could have been, both in terms of interacting on discord and working on videos. I feel like, to warrant asking for money from you all, I'd have to significantly increase the time I'm putting in from day to day which I do intend to do once I'm feeling up to it, but that doesn't make up for the lack of time I've been able to put in over the past month. For anyone who isn't aware, the start of this year has been pretty terrible for me, and I feel like the time I have been forced to spend cleaning up other people's messes has left me feeling very demotivated to work on anything for my channel especially given the size of the next project. This has extended to the patreon vod reviews and discord chat, I've been very inactive there and I really am sorry for that. I know it's not okay at all and I'm going to make an effort to catch up on the vod reviews especially over the duration of the pause.
The other side of this coin is to reduce the pressure I feel is placed on myself. I think removing one source of pressure will actually allow me to take the time off I need without feeling guilty for it, and let me return without risking burning myself out like I did last year. This isn't me quitting or anything, I'll still be working in the background, I just want to feel like I can do it at my own pace instead of feeling obligated to try and "catch up" for lost time, if that makes any sense. I also think that knowing that I won't be making any money until I do actually get the video done will help motivate me to be actively working on it, even without the pressure I perceive from patreon itself. I don't want to come off as though I take all your support for granted, it means the world to me and is the only reason I can do this for a career at all, and I need to do better when it comes to providing the benefits I advertise on here.
Onto something more positive, I think the video itself is shaping up very well! The script is easily the best aimtraining related thing I have ever written and the discussion on plateaus specifically was fascinating to think about, research and finalize. It's crystalized some of my own thoughts on the topic and since it's a subject that extends to almost every area of my life, having those ideas firmly established has already helped me to improve at other skills outside of just aiming. The challenge now is making the voiceover and video itself live up to the script, but I think that's a good challenge to have given the restrictive nature of writing about aiming. I hope it helps you all as much as it already has helped me once it's out! I'll be posting previews here over the next few weeks as I continue to work on it.
Hope you all are doing well and thanks for understanding <3 I'll try to do better going forward
