Aiming AMA!
Ask me anything aiming related and I'll answer :D
I'll be doing these monthly from now on for patreons only, but for the first one I thought it'd be nice to have it public

i doubt u will reply since its so old but i wanted to ask how often do u clean ur mousepad?
what is your mouse lod?
when im aiming in game i tend to panic, have you got any advices or what has helped you in the past to help with panicking in aim duels? are there any scenarios on kovaaks in mind that could help with not panicking?
i dont know if you are still looking thur the commets and stuff but i want to ask if hardware really matter the most (shapes and specs and i just started aim training and i find that on smaller and harder track my aim tend to shake a loy and relax my forearm dont really fix it much, is there anyway to combat this?
What dynamic clicking routine did you use to improve to get celestial complete
what are your favourite mouse skates? I've tried the obsidians since I was on a skyPAD but I'm switching to the kurosun samurai and want some recommendations
for that pad id probs use tiger ice full size skates? those, jade dots and the upcoming artisan dots are my favourites
Do you have any great schedule for aim training ?
honestly i dont have much of a schedule myself haha, but i think it really depends on what your available time is. If you've got the time for it though, doing a 15 min warmup before your playsession and a 45 min one after works great for me, esp if you focus on weaknesses noticed within ur gaming session in the 45 min aimtraining session.
Do you have a place where we could see your sensitivities for the games you play? Genuinely just curious what some of the top aimers use from game to game.
not currently but im happy to type them out here! are there any games in specific your curious about?
how should we approach to reactive tracking to get better at it?
I know this is just a different way to ask about sens, but I recently increased my sens from 64cm to 54cm (I know this is still slow) I feel way more comfortable with lower sense but my range of motion is limited. But overtime, I can learn to be smooth on a higher sense, correct?
absolutely! especially for a sens change like 60 to 50 it wont take long, for wider changes it takes a bit more time to develop the skills needed but the short answer is yes, you can learn to be smooth on any sensitivity
Practicality of using something like a hien or raiden for val? Also how are you (:
im well ty! i think both are def viable but lean into a very different style than other popular valorant mousepads the lower static friction those pads offer make them more suited to aiming styles that promote very fluid motion due to movements being easier to start, instead of more conventional rigid aiming styles. If you are trying to be snappy you might struggle a bit, otherwise I don't think theres anything wrong with either pad!
whats the difference and similarities between mouse control and aim
id say that mouse control is aiming at its most foundational, the ability to move your mouse from point a to b in an effective manner. Aim itself includes everything piled on top of that, movement, recoil control, things like that
How can I apply what I aim train to in-game? Is it the conscious thinking of how one aims in aim trainer to game? I feel like its hard to apply what I train to in-game especially when it comes to flicking both dynamic and static.
this is honestly a rly tricky one to answer since i think the causes for aim not translating well vary a lot the most common cause i see for aim not translating well is poor time management honestly, where someone plays 2hrs aimtraining 2hrs of their game and doesnt do well. This is because of the fatigue aimtraining for long periods of time can cause and the amount of other areas of practice (teamplay gamesense or even in game shooting mechs) you are neglecting by playing aimtrainers for a very long time the second most common thing I see with people who say their aim isnt translating is mindless practice. My last proper vid talked a lot about this but the core idea of it is, aimtraining should not just be supplementary to in game practice but complementary. You should be playing scenarios to target specific issues you notice when playing, and as you address those issues you'll find new ones when vod reviewing. Mindful, shorter practice sessions > longer, mindless ones
Do you have any experience/tips regarding dealing with nerves? As a follow up to the above question, would you say that aiming is both physical and mental when it comes to applying aiming technique in actual in-game scenarios?
I know that pokeball helps with smooth lines and stopping power but idk why, I feel like if I poor lines normally needing to hold left click down doesn’t really change that. What mentality should I be having when playing pokeball?
I honestly think the thing that makes pokeball so good in that respect is just that it removes the need to click. It lets me fully focus on trying to draw as clean a line as possible without thinking about any outside factors, and gives me more confidence to push my speed without worrying about needing to micro with extremely minimal tension afterwards
Sometimes, even though I can do better in some scenarios, I really suck when I play the game. and even though I do so much aim training, it still feels frustrating to lose aim fights to people who aren't aim training or putting the work i do (I know it's kind of a bad thought but), basically aiming training has been a double edge knife for me. how should I approach these feelings, tbh I'm mentally exhausted... (dont know its important but im master in voltaic benchmarks)
hey! i know that feeling very well haha, I'm going to copy paste a segment from another reply about time management then talk more specifics "the most common cause i see for aim not translating well is poor time management honestly, where someone plays 2hrs aimtraining 2hrs of their game and doesnt do well. This is because of the fatigue aimtraining for long periods of time can cause and the amount of other areas of practice (teamplay gamesense or even in game shooting mechs) you are neglecting by playing aimtrainers for a very long time" If you are playing a similar ratio of games to aimtrainers as this, its def something to dial back but I completely understand the mental aspect of it too. It's defeating to go into a game after spending so much time training and still get destroyed, esp if u know they havent put in the time u have, but I think it's possible to shift that mentality into something a bit more positive. Ok, they are winning aim duels with worse aim, so what else are they doing that's getting them to win? Are they taking smarter fights, isolating angles better which lets them take more favourable 1v1s? Do they have better preaim, meaning they have to do less of the actual aiming? Those kind of questions are so important in situations like that because, if you were doing what they were doing in terms of game specific mechanics, you'd be doing better than them simply because you do have that edge in your raw mechanics. Plus, it's absolutely quicker to make those sort of changes to your gameplay than grinding out aim is. The other benefit is that looking at through losses through this lens can help you realise how much more there is to gunfights in games than pure mechanics. I know when I first started aimtraining and doing vod reviews, I only saw mechanical issues "If I aimed better I would have won that fight" when the question should have been if I should have taken that fight in the first place. When you only have a hammer, everything starts to look like a nail. (sry it took me a min to get to this, wanted to write a proper reply :P)
How much of an importance do you think seat height and arm placement has? Also wanted to thank you for your last video, altered my training and have seen good progress since :)
congrats!! im rly glad that vids been so helpful haha, structuring practice in that way is something i havent heard elaborated on before Personally, I need my elbow to be higher than my desk bc I rest my arms on my armrest, cant aim without it, but I don't think there is a super objective best configuration. Ik a lot of people do a lot of different things like my armrest tech or resting the arm on the mousepad or just having their elbow hover. I don't think any of these are better than the others but I do think there is a rough ratio of desk height to chair height that is ideal, high enough that you dont have to bend your arm upwards but low enough to not have to put effort into holding it up
Do you think calm aim just comes with time/grind or do you think there's a pack or scenario that can expedite the process?
its def a practicable skill, i see calm aim as having a good control over the acceleration and deacceleration of ur mouse, not getting stressed under pressure and choosing targets well. The acceleration/deacceleration bit is easiest to explain and isolate, playing things like smoothbot, controlsphere, air will all work on the arm stability needed to slowly deaccelerate as you approach the target instead of harshly flicking. Have a watch of the newest vid on the voltaic vid, i co-write it and it goes into a lot of the raw mechanics behind calm aim c:
Who do you think is an Aimer/player that is highly underrated?
redfai is one of my favs to watch who i think its pretty slept on but he doesnt post anymore :(
What are the causes of poor microcorrections? it feels like i have to put so much effort to move my mouse only a bit.
tbh there are so many its hard to list them all or even narrow it down without watching a vod, I think the most common one is overtensing for them? i know back when mine were a weak point thats what the cause was, trying to be too fast and tensing heaps bc of it which made my movements lack fluidity. Regardless of the cause though, the almost universal practice method for it is to slow the movement down and train it slowly, get more confident and consistent at that slow speed before trying to go faster.
what dpi are you using
1600, but honestly anything but 400 is fine
What are your favourite mouse skates/what mouse skates are on your op1?
hi! im using jade dots on my op1 atm, my fav is either the tiger ice full size skates or these depending on the mousepad im on, jades for firmer cloth pads tiger ice for softer cloth pads or hard pads
no question here just commenting to say you're the best and keep up the amazing work <3 (p.s. why does ur timing always fall in the middle of the night for us nz'ers)
awww tysm <3
