New Pair Up Mechanic
So, as the title implies, I wanted to make this post to talk about a new mechanic that's coming in the next update. I'm currently calling it "pair up," but I'm not fully satisfied with that name, so it'll probably be changing in the full release.
Essentially, this new mechanic will allow party members outside of the current 4 that are being used to still assist in combat. By assigning a pair at the start of a run, two characters can occupy the same spot in the party, allowing them to swap in and out with one another in battle, as well as offering them the ability to attack as a single unit.
Paired allies also share a percentage of the received damage, so swapping back and forth doesn't actually give a ton of extra health. However, energy and cooldowns aren't shared at all, meaning that swapping will allow you to make use of both party members' most powerful abilities in a single combat.
And that's about it for the pair up mechanic! This feature is still pretty experimental and needs more balancing, but my hope is that it enhances strategic play once extra party members are unlocked. Let me know what you all think about it or if you have any questions!

Hey absolutely loving the game but when is this update coming out?
I don't have a release date at this point, but I'll hopefully be able to make a post explaining a timeline of what I'm planning soon enough.
Absolutely awesome way to involve every character into combat without misbalancing too many things
Yes, please keep cooking, the spices are exactly as it should
is their cool down?
Yes. I haven't fully decided on the numbers so I didn't want to show it in this screenshot, but there will be cooldowns on swapping and doing combo attacks.
Mmm, you smell that batman? Sweet sweet power creep. Inject it strrrrraight into my veins! Jokes aside, this seems really fun. It also means less upgrades may be necessary in the future levels since if you handle your swaps right you should be able to clear the upper level.
Yeah, I'm expecting this to make the party a good bit stronger, but I'm planning on making the combo attacks balanced enough that they don't completely break the game.
You could use fighting game terms to name the new mechanic, calling it "Tag" mechanic and the actually combo attacks "Assist", since most team based fighting games use this terminology for a similar mechanic/function.
