I've been playing with Quips. One recent one had 1 (one) impression. Was seen by a single person. So, what is the point? Quips are being pushed as a discovery tool...not if they're not being shown to anyone. Am I missing something?
Hey there, it's completely fair to question it when a Quip only reaches one person. That kind of low reach isn't the intended outcome for a discovery-focused feature, and we've heard similar feedback from smaller creators consistently over the past couple months. Jack recently shared more on this, including changes underway to help with discovery for creators of any size. Hey Emily, there are a few things that go into this. Quips from creators a fan is already connected to tend to rank higher, especially when those fans have shown they care about that creator's work. Freshness matters too, so newer Quips get more of a chance to be seen, especially once they start picking up early engagement. Other creators liking, commenting on, or resharing a Quip also helps it reach more people, kind of like a recommendation. And engagement from your own free and paid members is one of the strongest signals that a Quip is resonating. Our ranking is a work in progress and we want to keep improving it with creator and fan feedback.

Hey there, there's no specific timeline to share yet for expanding Patreon Video to 18+ creators, but it's something the team hopes to open up to more creators down the road. So quips are like tweets or threads. I appreciate you giving us more ways to reach people and engage but it is hard to keep up with all the posting options across this and social.
Any advice on when to post something on posts versus quips? Is cross posting redundant? I am a tiny creator with little reach, so most of my stuff is seen by my followers anyway, I think. Maybe sticking to posts but quips for visibility on casual updates?
Hey there, posts and Quips serve different jobs, so cross-posting usually isn't redundant, it's about matching the format to what you're sharing. Posts are built for deeper, more polished work, episodes, videos, announcements, and they can be gated to paid members or kept public, with more control over who gets notified and an email that goes out to fans. Quips are lighter and feed-first, built for quick updates that are fast to create and easier for people to discover and engage with in the Home feed. For a smaller creator, that split can help. A Quip can surface a quick update in the feed without triggering a full notification and email the way a post does. Some creators use both for the same idea, a Quip when the thought first comes up, a full post once it's developed. You can also quote a post as a Quip as a way of previewing a longer post you've already shared to the feed.

Yeah. Quips are like shorts on youtu.be but more options...and totally open. Sometimes i use them to just give text updates for my Patrons but also they are handy to just jot down good ideas ive had that i cam scroll through later and find cool ideas for longer posts and videos later!
Quick updates for your members plus a running scratchpad of ideas to look back on later, that's a solid combination.

How do you post a “quip” I only see posts…is it because I’m 18+ ?

Can anyone tell me why as soon as I edit a video on my phone, suddenly patreon cant find it when I try to upload it? 🙏

I'd love to have this feature available soon for +18 content creators (writers). My doubt is: how does it work for other languages? My account is in Spanish, but all the quips I see on my feed are in English.
Hey Lizza, we're starting to roll out Quips to Adult/18+ creators. As with any feature rollout, we'll be monitoring usage and will expand to more creators when we're ready. As for language, right now the feed mostly looks at signals around the subject matter of a Quip and engagement, rather than language specifically, so that's likely why you're seeing more English content even with a Spanish-language account. We'll keep your feedback in mind as we improve the feed to work for more users on Patreon.

Do Quips show up even when made from the browser by now?
Hey Valery, yes, you can make and view Quips right from your browser, but with one caveat. There isn't a fan feed on desktop yet, so Quips won't show up the way they would if a fan were scrolling on mobile. Fans can still see and comment on a specific Quip via its direct link, or by visiting the Quips tab on your creator page. We do have plans to bring a discovery feed to desktop down the line.

I really hate the name. A quip in English is a joke usually derogatory. You lr named your product after a term that is an insult. I don't want patrion to be social media. I want it to integrate with my shopping cart and other things. This is so insensitive, and terribly stupid in marketing. You've been pushing this insulting term so much to me that I have been actively looking to see if it's possibly for me to migrate elsewhere. The worst marketing is when you turn off a fan. Until you decided to use a term for an insulting joke,I was a fan.
That's an inaccurate word description. Quip is usually a short quick witted remark. Maybe its different in your region?

What is considered a post a “quip”? Do we just share our content publicly and that makes it a quip?
A regular post is a full Patreon post that lives on your page. Posts are built for longer, more polished content, like episodes, videos, images, or announcements, and can go to paid members only or be public. Quips are lighter and feed-first, designed for quick updates that are easy to create and easy for people to discover in the Home feed rather than something tied to your page.
As a new patreon creator. I LOOOVE the quips! 🌻✨
It's still so, that Quips from Creators with many followers are shown more often in the discovery feed than from new or small Communities.
Are Quips Patreon's answer to Tweets? Are they available to all creators?

Do quips send notification/emails to my members? I worry that if I post lots it’ll bombard them which I don’t like to bother people too much with?!

So if I quip existing content via the „Share - Create Quip“ Feature the Post gets pulled out my fans‘ bubble and is shown all over Patreon, Right? Do you recommend adding an additional picture along the, lets say, cover image of a news post or is just adding Text having the Same reach? And will exisiting fans see or get notified about the Post twice then? I hold back on Using quips after posting since I don’t want to be „spanming“.
Hey RUHE IM SAAL, Quips are public, so yes, it moves beyond your own fans and into the Home feed for people who aren't following you yet too. In regards to adding images, Quips with a picture tend to get more engagement, so if you've got a cover image handy, it's worth using. Members get an in-app notification for a Quip, not an email, so sharing a Quip alongside a post you've already put up shouldn't come across as repetitive. Members can also adjust their own notification settings if they want fewer of these.
Why suggesting a quip that I posted for my Paid subscribers? If I quip that it will become free to watch??
Hey Lionel, Quips are always public. They're built to be discoverable, so they show up in the Home feed for fans who don't know you yet, not just for your members. By default, anyone with a Patreon account can comment on a Quip too, which helps drive that discovery. If you'd rather keep replies closer to home, you can adjust the comment settings when you create a Quip, limiting it to members only or turning comments off entirely.
What's the difference in the reach between a public post and a quip? Also: please add a way to add alt text to quips for accessibility! Without that I have to add image descriptions to the body of a quip, which makes the quip feel bloated.

Posts are more geared toward reaching your existing member base. Quips help you get in front of new people, while posts go deeper with the people already following you.
