How these creators are bringing the Internet to the big screen
We just got back from the very first Camp Film Fest in Austin, Texas — a bold new experiment bringing together internet creators, filmmakers, and real-life community. In this episode, we unpack the experience of attending the festival, talk about what made it electric, and share exclusive moments from our interview with the festival’s founders, Max and Simon.
The Camp Film Fest was built by Creator Camp in partnership with Patreon and featured 9 first-time directors making their debut films. From surreal shorts to a full-length feature, the weekend was packed with creativity.
We talk about:
Why this wasn’t just a bridge to Hollywood — it’s its own highway
Behind-the-scenes insights on the Anthem video and festival programming
The ethos of Creator Camp
Our quick one-word reactions to the films
Why in-person experiences matter more than view counts
Subscribe for weekly doses of inspiring creators and internet gems.
Until June 5th, you can check out the films that debuted at Camp Film Fest at their Patreon here.

About Gems of the Internet: We’re Paul and Mia. We both live and work on the internet. The internet feels too big sometimes. It’s hard to find things that are meaningful when there’s just so much out there. So we’re sharing a few things each week that were exciting, inspiring, or meaningful to us. Maybe one of those things will inspire your next project, or maybe you’ll find your next favorite creator. Find all episodes here on Patreon for Creators.
