About Japanese lyrics I have a twisted opinion. Of course I will know what the artist or songwriter will explain to us but especially Japanese language have some important barriers for it and I saw so many wrong or better questionable translations, that they are not realy helpful. So translations are more interpretations than fixed facts. A realy short example: "dezu" means I am, we are or in some cases you are. So nobody outside knows, is it the one person, another person or two and more persons and I think everybody will agree, that it is very important for the right understanding of many songs. And this is one of hundrets similar examples. The next is. that many Japanese writers use metaphors, symbolisms, terms and definition with a historical, cultural sociological religious backround, that isn't part of the knowledge of many translators. Of course there are native speakers and people that has a deep understanding, who also translate lyrics, but they are a minority. So ok let's look at the translations but use them like a interpretation and make your own thoughts. The song is great and catchy and Ado is a fantastic artist with unmatched abilities. But she is exact one of these persons with a high artistic claim that involves ambiguities, hidden agendas and symbols. 🦊🦊🦊 For The Fox-God 🦊🦊🦊
I agree with you, but you’re example is half wrong, desu doesn’t mean I am, we are or you are, it’s a polite copula to connect a sentence together, and yes it linked to the verb “to be”, but I am is “watashi wa” or “ore wa” even less used but still exists “boku wa”, you are is “anata wa”, we are is “watashitachi ha” (sometimes like we are the “wa” becomes “ha” because it sounds better) desu is mostly used as the verb “to be” but sometimes you’ll still use it even without the verb “to be” to make a sentence even more polite, even if grammatically it’s redundant But if I remember correctly in Ado’s music videos it’s her team who translates to English so the translations on her videos are most of the time accurate
