Year end summary and New Year's plan
2024 is coming to an end, thank you very much for your attention and support during this year. Wishing you a happy New Year.
First of all, let me report on the progress of my CC production. The second part of the bay window scene cannot be completed within this month. I have already completed the model and UV parts, but when making the texture, I tried a new method. Although I think the effect is better than before, I still couldn't match the color completely with the previous furniture. Therefore, I started to remake the texture using the previous production method and wooden color card. Expected to be completed and released in the first half of January.
Next, if anyone is interested, I would like to share with you my gaming experience and the journey I have taken in making CC over the past six months.
The first time I played The Sims was in middle school. At my classmate's house, I played a couple sims who died in a cooking fire because they didn't have a fire alarm installed. Afterwards, I went home and downloaded the game, and began a decade long career in the Sims game. Although I have stopped playing games multiple times due to academic and work reasons, I always return in the end.
In April of this year, I made a decision to create the Sims CC. I had this idea several years ago, and now I want to implement it. Because I enjoy building houses, reading tutorials on building houses, and researching building techniques, I have decided to make furniture and building materials.
My previous learning and work experience has nothing to do with gaming assets. Before starting to create CC, I had no knowledge of modeling. I have studied Chinese Fine Brushwork Painting for several years, but I am also completely clueless about digital painting and stylized art. The only thing I can confirm is that I am very determined to create a CC with a maxis match style.
In the past eight months, I have learned some introductory knowledge about modeling and digital painting through self-study, but it is still far from enough. If you have played CC that I have made, you may have noticed that I tend to make simple structured items or semi modular furniture like My Room set. Because my ability is not sufficient to handle complex structures and details, sometimes it also makes me feel frustrated.
I found myself very obsessed with the Maxis match style and spent a lot of time researching it. I like to study NOCC items, dismantle them, observe UV layout, and observe texture details. But currently, there is still a big gap between what I have created and the maxis match in my mind. I have consulted many materials and tutorials provided by excellent authors in the Maxis match style. I have learned from them the methods, but I do not want to completely replicate their style. I want to combine these excellent methods with my own style to create my own Maxis match.
In the new year, I have developed many learning plans for modeling and stylized materials for myself, continuing to move towards my ideal maxis match style. I am also planning to create a new set of wooden color cards, try to draw patterns and designs myself, and so on, with a full basket of plans. I will try my best to improve the quality of my furniture and bring you better things. I will also constantly search for methods that suit me to improve efficiency and create more things.
For the content, I plan to continue making some common items in my daily life and gradually add some clutter. In addition, I may try to create some items for public places because when I play live mode, I like to let my sims play in public places and like to pause and observe public facilities.I also enjoy downloading houses from the gallery and observing the public facilities assembled by creative builders using debug items.
There may also be some changes to the update plan. Before I started making CC, when I downloaded CC from other creators to play, I found that they always released CC in sets. So when I started making CC, I also chose this form. But after several months, I found it difficult for me to gather a complete set of furniture every month. Whenever I started making it, I was always enthusiastic, but as the progress progressed, I felt increasingly confused. I have been trying to overcome this mentality for the past few months, but the results have been unsatisfactory. So I plan to replace this complete furniture form by updating more small combinations and items, and at the same time, shorten the paywall time appropriately based on quantity and time consumption, such as one week, two weeks, or three weeks.
Finally, thank you again for your attention and support, which has provided me with many positive emotions. I am truly grateful.See you next year!
