Version Releases on July 25

Hello everyone, this is Lactose Quest.

The Patreon version of the game is now confirmed to release on July 25.

This version will be uncensored and will be sold through a separate paid post on Patreon. The price is planned to be around $13.

For everyone who has already supported me with $25 or more, I will send the download link to you directly. If you do not receive it after release, please feel free to message me.

First of all, I want to sincerely thank everyone who has followed the project, waited for its release, and supported me along the way.

This will most likely be the final substantial update before launch.

Now that the release date is approaching, I honestly find it a little difficult to know what to say. Most of what I can share has already been shared. From here on, my focus is on finishing the remaining work, checking each part carefully, and bringing the game as close as possible to a state I can stand behind with confidence.

The past few weeks have been extremely busy.

From the earliest planning stage to the present, this project has essentially been developed by me alone. I have handled the scenario, story structure, system design, direction, programming, and a large number of detailed adjustments one by one.

Because of that, the final stretch has been especially demanding. The closer the project gets to completion, the more the remaining tasks gather together, and the more precise each adjustment needs to be.

There are many areas where simply finishing the content is not enough.

Each route has its own flow. Certain developments need to make sense logically. The characters’ emotions have to feel convincing in specific scenes. The amount of information given to the player has to feel natural, and the pacing of each scene needs to be checked repeatedly.

During development, many problems do not reveal themselves automatically.

After writing a scene, I need to go back and examine the logic. After building an event, I need to check the rhythm. Even when the program works correctly, I still have to consider whether players might get stuck, feel confused, or lose immersion while playing.

Each of these may seem like a small task on its own, but together they shape the overall experience.

While working through all of this, I have also spent a lot of time reflecting on the development process itself.

The longer development continued, the more exhausted I became.

In the beginning, there were many things I could push through with enthusiasm and momentum alone. Over time, however, fatigue started to build up. My instincts became less sharp, and I found myself questioning my own judgment more often.

There were times when I felt as if I had become trapped inside the work.

Since almost every decision was made by me alone, it became harder and harder to maintain an objective view of the game. I found myself wondering whether a scene was truly necessary, whether a character’s emotions were working, whether a certain section felt too heavy, or whether the overall pacing still felt right.

That uncertainty was frightening.

After spending so much time facing the same project alone, I became the creator, the first player, and the person responsible for checking everything. At the same time, I also became the person who questioned and rejected my own decisions over and over.

After enough revisions, I sometimes found it difficult to tell whether a change was genuinely needed, or whether I was simply being driven by anxiety.

There were also moments when fixing one small detail led to another issue, and then another beyond that.

The expectations from players have been a major source of support for me.

I am truly grateful for that.
At the same time, those expectations have also brought a great deal of pressure.

The more I know that people are waiting for the game, the more I worry about whether I am creating something worthy of that wait. The more I see your comments and encouragement, the more afraid I become that the finished work might disappoint you.

That is why I have kept moving forward, handling what I can one step at a time.

Recently, I have been focusing on improving the route experience, strengthening certain logical and emotional elements, and adding supplementary information where needed.

These are not necessarily large or obvious changes, but I believe they are important for bringing the game closer to the level of completion I am aiming for.

To be honest, given the scale of the project, this has been a very demanding way to develop it.

This is a long, story-focused game with an estimated playtime of around 20 hours. It is not a short or lightweight work.

Text, structure, direction, systems, branching paths, foreshadowing and payoff, pacing, and the connections between small details all build on top of one another. Once all of these elements came together, the amount of work became far greater than I had originally imagined.

Even so, the project has finally come this far.

From the first line of the scenario to the point where the full game is now approaching completion, there have been many revisions, doubts, and moments where I had to stop and reconsider the direction.

Now, the game is in its final stage, and it will soon be ready to be officially delivered to players.

Work on the Recollection Room is also still ongoing.

I would also like to briefly mention the new character visuals that were recently added to the game. I will not go into detail here, but I believe players will encounter them at the right moments during the game.

There is also something I would like to explain regarding Patreon.

Until now, the subscription function has remained open. At first, this was mainly because I used Patreon as a way to distribute and sell Her Fall in the Last Days. However, as time went on, I realized that many people continued subscribing without canceling.

I feel both deeply grateful and honestly ashamed about that.

I am truly thankful for your support, but I also understand that the current subscription format is not really suitable for me. I am not able to provide enough regular rewards or ongoing benefits to match that kind of monthly support, and I have always been afraid of disappointing the people who chose to support me.

Now that Patreon has a way to sell individual posts directly, I think this will be a much better method going forward.

After this release, I plan to close the regular membership/subscription function and use separate paid posts for future releases instead. This way, people can simply pay for the work they want, without feeling like they need to keep supporting me every month.

For those who have supported me more than the actual price of the game, I truly want to thank you. In future projects, I will try to include supporters who gave extra support as NPCs in the game as a small way to give something back.

I know this is not a perfect reward, but it is something I sincerely want to do.

In any case, release is now very close.

Looking back, the development process has been much longer and more difficult than I first expected. In creating a long, story-focused game of this scale, there were immature decisions, things that did not go smoothly, and many moments of personal conflict along the way.

Still, I am deeply grateful to have made it this far.

Thank you very much for waiting.
Thank you for your patience, your kindness, and your support.

I sincerely appreciate everyone who has supported me through Patreon, whether through subscriptions, paid posts, comments, or simply by following the project.

Thanks to you for all your hard work! Many people who continued renewing their subscriptions even when it wasn't necessary did so because they wanted to support you in some way, to let you know they were there, even if you felt you didn't deserve it. I've loved following this project and will continue to support it in any way I can so that future projects can come to fruition.
