Development Update #16

Hello and welcome to the first dev update of 0.6.

Before we get into it, thank you for the reception on the last release. Really appreciate it.

Writing is well underway. First scenes are already being put together, good chunk of script done, good chunk still ahead. This early in development I usually like to bounce between writing and posing.Doing one thing for too long gets stale.

Also, 0.6 will introduce two new characters. One of them has a very particular professional interest in MC. The other is... a lot to take in. More on both of them soon.

Last weekend I wanted to do more posing.Well I did, until Sunday happened.
Came back to my office to find my PC with black screens, completely unresponsive, all fans going full blast for god knows how many hours overnight.

Spent most of Sunday and Monday taking it apart, cleaning it out, checking everything I could think of. So unfortunately this isn't a " have you tried turning it off and on again" situation.

According to the HWInfo logs the GPU and motherboard have been having serious issues with each other, and the amount of RAM i currently use isn't helping either.

After the dust removal and a few other little fixes the PC is now at least more stable. As in, not thousands of PCIe recovery attempts overnight just around fifty. Yay.
Still crashing though. Last resort will be tested tonigh, I changed the PCI bus thingy from gen4 to gen3 which should help to make the connection more stable, less bandwith but thats alright if it doesn't crash in exchange.

I was already planning to upgrade anyway. It's a pre-COVID build, everything except the 4090 (which sits in there like a turbo-charged V12 engine bolted to a shopping cart). So I'm probably just going to order a bunch of new parts and transplant the GPU.

Unless the GPU is the problem. A new 4090 is about €3,500 right now. So I really really hope its "just" the motherboard that's slowly peacing out.

Anyway. The important part: I'm not sitting around. No posing until this gets sorted, so I've shifted fully into writing. Might even get a head start on 0.7 depending on how long this drags out. Not ideal, but not the end of the world either.
