Glyph 1.0 for Touchdesigner
Hi all! I've seen several tools for other softwares combining ascii, glyph and other emotion overlays so I wanted to release a version for touchdesigner! It's aimed at being a super friendly and easy to use beginner tool to create quick custom effects that works with a range of real-time inputs.
You can download the tool here: https://www.patreon.com/PJCreations/posts/glyph-1-0-for-168382941?utm_medium=clipboard_copy&utm_source=copyLink&utm_campaign=postshare_creator&utm_content=join_link
I also used a pre-beta version of this tool in this music video (tutorial soon): https://youtu.be/K5lsD1dCnsk?si=2nwMCF_KiJOPMYIn
Details:
Glyphs
8 built-in sets (ASCII, blocks, dots, lines, binary, hex, symbols, katakana) or type your own, unicode included
25 system fonts, or load your own .ttf/.otf
Cells auto-size to your input and stay square, or set them manually
Thin to bold weight, soft edges, outline-only with adjustable thickness and fill
Icons
Use any TOP, or point at a folder of images and every file becomes a glyph
Reads transparent PNG artwork correctly and keeps icons in true proportion
Crop the source sheet, nudge the boundaries between icons, align awkward sprite sheets
Colour
8 one-click looks: Net Blue, Paper Red, Y2K Pink, Acid Lime, Inkjet Blue, Blackout, Safety Orange, UV Purple
Colour from your footage, a single accent, or from time itself
Posterize, hue shift, saturation, and a background that can be flat or your own video
Structure
Mask by luminance, red, green or blue so glyphs appear only where you want them
Box Mix breaks the uniform grid into bigger blocks, by brightness or at random, still or animated
CellMap plays every tile at a different moment in time, so motion smears across the grid
Motion
Scroll, wave, drift, pulse and spin the glyph field
Trails with four blend modes and hue drift, affecting only the glyphs and blocks, never the background
Glyph physics: glyphs get dragged along by movement in your footage, then break loose and fly off past an escape speed
Practical
Around 5ms a frame, and anything you are not using costs nothing
Ships with a demo scene so it looks like something the moment you open it, plus a reset button
Output follows your input resolution automatically, or choose a preset
Non-commercial TouchDesigner licences cap output at 1280px, so 1080p and 1440p presets will clamp
