What movies do you guys want to cover but the SEO isn’t in the cards?
Any good watch recommendations from Mason? My smart watch gave out on my and I figured it'd be a good time to switch to an actual watch
Any reason you guys don’t read manga!? I’d love to hear your thoughts on something like Jujutsu Kaisen. Also, what do you think if America company’s adopted the production style that mangas do? Most mangas are written and drawn by the same person giving them complete creative control
Can James do a Kickflip?
If you had to either become super jacked to be a Chris Hemsworth role with no help (like the studio didn’t pay for it or give you a trainer) or purposefully become fat to fill a Jonah Hill role-both you have 6 months for-which would you do based on time constraint, achievability and cost. And if you don’t achieve their vision of what you should be like you don’t get the role.
I’ve got one for James and one for Maso: For James: Have you ever seen that guy that made you play that stupid game to watch Batman ‘89 on VHS when your parents dragged you to his house again, and did you ‘knock his fucking lights out’ like you said you would the first time you told that story early on in the pod? Maso: I know you’ve said you only buy one Transformer per year, and I’ve been curious how you make your decision. Do you only buy from one line like Masterpiece or Studio Series, do you buy figures you just think look cool, do you choose based on favorite characters, etc.
Hey! So as a long term viewer/listener I’ve noticed the you tube channel went from single just James videos to pretty much always Maso and James vids. Any reason? Like views better or more fun to do? Lemme know
Did Maso ever send Robert Patrick that single dollar?
I recently listened back to your first QnA from 2016 and was astounded by just how similar your thoughts were then and now. If you could give a piece of advice to your younger self, and how do you think they'd reply?
I thank Mason for his advice from Fant4stic which was basically don't feel like you need to watch every comic or nerdy movie. There have been so many I haven't bothered with but also probably because I've gotten older and price but I don't even check them out on streaming. So which one of the following should I actually try to watch? Fan4stic, Kingsman 2, both Jokers, Dark Phoenix, New Mutants, Aquaman 2, Shazam 2, Venom 2 and 3, Morbius, Quantumania, Blue Beetle, the Marvels, Kraven, Madame Web, Captain America 4, Supergirl, etc.
Do you guys remember the ads for Smallville on Channel Ten or Arrow on Channel Nine? They seemed so scared of showing that they were superhero shows that when I was a kid I thought these were some edgy drama shows not for kids, up there with the likes of Underbelly or something and with no superheroes. Which is odd because at that age I knew Superman was from Smallville, I must’ve just thought it was a same name thing like how there’s many irl Springfiel’s. Did you guys notice this at all or am i just misremembering lol
What kind of cars do yall drive?
Sometimes either of you will bring up Dan Olson folding ideas Would you guys ever have him on the show or any other quote unquote big YouTube man like a hbomberguy Or even nerdsync has you’ve worked with him before
if you could, would you?
Is there any chance Mummy 4 or Gremlins 3 can be good or even great?
Have either of you ever tried writing a book/movie/some sort of entertainment? I feel like with all of the experience you 2 have with media you’d be really good at crafting a well-told story
James, will you get Control: Resonant so Mason can play? He's clearly been hinting at this.
What's your favourite marvel cartoon as much as I like anything Spider-Man mine is absolutely the 90s one that Maso seems to dislike 😂
What are James’ Thoughts on Radiohead
Since youve mentioned Supernatural recently Ive been thinking about their failed attempts at spinoffs and the one I wished would have happened. Which spinoffs would you like to have seen from some of your favorite shows?
Hey mates! Have you ever considered covering classic films like Casablanca or psycho or do you think the algorithm would not reward you?
What's your go to move for low stakes payback? When that random jerk makes your day worse how do you extract a little Justenge (justified revenge)? Ugh, or how do you rise above it and be an example for your kids, or whatever?
Have either of you watched the documentary “Untold: Raygun Breaking Badly” on Netflix yet? If so, what are your thoughts on one of your top athletes?!?
Have you guys seen that video of Vin Diesel creeping heavily on a reporter? Constantly talking past her and calling her beautiful like a dozen times. Should be easy to find it but yeah dudes a creep
Favorite comic book character that hasn't appeared on film/TV and if they were to appeared, who should play them? P.S. Love you guys, yall should really cover kingdom hearts.
What is the best fight scene in a movie and why is it "They Live"?
What is a classic Australian movie that is always on at Christmas time for you?
Would you guys ever want be a contestant on a show like Taskmaster?
A two part question. 1. Do you guys actually play Knifey/Spoony in Australia? 2. Can you teach me?
What is your personal favorite scene in any movie ever?? Not even the best just one that you think is your favorite
Why don't ya'll have more guests!? Especially since I often hear you as guests on other pods, why not guests on this one? Guys, come 'on. Joel, Alexi, Zach, Greg, Matt or even Dave would make for a really great show! Oh and have you heard of the aussie pod "Filthy Casuals"? Very funny hosts there.
There's always a bit of good hearted whinging about things you're forced to watch because of this job. What are things you're glad this job forced you to watch? Like a show or movie that was actually quite good, but wouldn't be something you would've checked out if you didn't have to?
How many teeth do you own?
Do you have afavourite episode of your own pods?
Do you guys have LetterBoxd accounts? Or do you think that having them would kind of ruin the surprises of Caravan of Garbages? Side note: aside from Comic Book films (I know it's discussed in What You Reading) are there any films you've watched lately that you've really enjoyed?
Actually yeah! Would you guys or one of you ever come on my show Aussieverse and chat? I love your show, I actually walked past one of you last year in Melbourne but didn't have the balls to stop you and say hi 😅
Mason, any comment on Melbourne finishing second last at the recent world tram driving competition? Here's the best news link I could find but it doesn't have much detail: https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/live/2026/sep/20/australia-news-live-labor-coalition-fuel-petrol-prices-anthony-albanese-pauline-hanson-one-nation-immigration-angus-taylor-police-ntwnfb James, any chance you could laugh for an uncomfortably long time at your best friend about this?
I'm overloaded with content choices. So much content! Decide for me, what should I watch for the rest of the year. MCU rewatch? Horror movie marathon? The movie Joker? Decide for me, please.
Who is your favorite billionaire CEO? And why do we not have enough of them? Thanks.
What do you expect to be a bigger bombMummy 4, The Quest for Gollum or Spaceballs 2?
James what is your favourite song from the Bando Stone album (love no excuses) and Maso if you had to be a tram driver anywhere in the world besides Australia where would it be? (netherlands seems cool but day only)
do you guys think tom holland would hate you guys because of the tom holland impression
My daughter and I really enjoyed the Never Go Back where James' son was tricked into playing old Star Wars games and gets progressively angrier and angrier about it. What goes into the decision to let them (the kids) be on an episode? Also, what do they call Maso? Nick? Uncle Maso? Sir?
Do you have a mindset going into stories knowing that you likely will not get a final ending for the character? Continuing to invest in some of these franchises knowing there's never a true 'happily ever after' for my characters is exhausting and I think video games are even worse. For example, Halo, Mortal Kombat, Assassin's Creed, and Elder Scrolls aren't anywhere close to resolving their storylines and more often You have to consume spin-off content just to stay up to date on the story that won't end. I am jealous that 75 years ago you could have a degree of completeness that you consumed all the sherlock holmes or conan stories, and I will never get that feeling for any popular fiction character today.
What’s your favourite early 2000s bad movie, resident evil reminded me of that vibe and me and mates have made a bingo for the underworld franchise and it’s hilarious 😆
Is Battenberg Cake a thing in Australia and if so could you eat a whole one in a single sitting?
What trope or movie logic consistently irks you? I always roll my eyes when the bad guy "safely" tosses the protagonist or when the bad guy decides to slow down right before the killing blow leading to them getting dead instead. Either can be done well, but usually it's silly and predictable.
I hate when someone cocks a handgun or a shotgun menacingly. If a bullet or shell doesnt fly out it means that if they had pulled the trigger nothing would have happened because a round wasnt loaded into the chamber.
How much do you love my home city of Chicago, Illinois?
What is an example of an adaptation that completely strays from the source material but is well received? I can’t think of a single example where an adaptation makes significant changes and people don’t vehemently reject it. Which also then begs the question why do adaptations so often stray from the source material??
Most of the 007 movies have very little to do with the books of the same name aside from the villain and bond girl being the same.
Will you ever cover MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios in the booque clubbe? I remember you guys floated the idea when it came out but it never happened. I'm finally reading it this year alongside my rewatch of all the Marvel movies. Have you read any other inside baseball book about comics? I really enjoyed Marvel Comics: The Untold Story by Sean Howe and feels like The Reign of Marvel Studios picks up right where that book left off making it a spiritual sequel.
Why?
Excluding character actors / bit parts, name one actor & one actress you’d choose if you could only watch their movies for the rest of your life.
You both generally seem to agree with critics consensus on things. Has there ever been a movie that was critically well received that you just didn’t get at all?
- what superhero would you be if you had to also have their life?
Where did the old pngs of James and Maso originally come from? For example, the one of James smiling and pointing up or the one of Maso looking shocked. There also used to be a clip that doesn't get used much anymore of Maso and Mr Sunday Movies as a Goat Han Solo on a couch together laughing. The origin of that too would be fascinating to learn about.
A few episodes ago, you nonchalantly mentioned how dogs would just get into the school... Can you elaborate on that?
Who would you like to see return to a franchise they helped create / left their mark on? Such as: - John Carpenter return to direct a Halloween or an Escape From... - James Cameron return to do another Alien... - Alan Moore for another Watchmen...
If you could summon something to your hand like mjolnir, what would it be? Rules, whatever it is the nearest thing comes to you. It has to either make its way through opening or break its way through things. It can be multiple of one thing but you can only summon one of it at a time.
Why did James brother (the one Maso doesn't like) become a staple of the show while Maso's sister ( who probably everyone lIkes) got tossed in the bin after one mention??
Will you wear wigs?
Would you ever do a Colleen Hoover Caravan of Garbage series?
If you could be Tronned* into any of the games you did a Never Look Back for, which would you most want to be/least want to be. * By Tronned I mean in the game, not in the code of the game.
Are there any comics that you weren't aware of growing up, didn't find out until decades later, and are disappointed you didn't get to experience it as it was being released? Grant Morrison's Doom Patrol and Sandman Mystery Theatre (the one from the 90s with Wesley Dodd) are two that spring to mind for me.
Are there any obscure elements of a character's history or powers that you would like to see brought into an adaptation? I was watching Legion (yes some people have finished Legion - some people have even finished it a few times) and it touches on Professor X's history in the Korean War. It was something I wasn't aware of, and it got me curious about little bits like this that have been forgotten or ignored.
If Australia sank into the ocean today, where would you guys move to? If the entire world sank into the ocean, ala Water World, what would your water craft of choice be?
Do you think the surprise-musical-sequel concept could ever work? On paper, Joker 2 with Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn sounds like it would have been awesome but of course, in the end, it was not. But I don't think that movie's failure was because of the music, I think it was just because that movie happened to be Joker 2. I honestly think the concept could work someday, but with the prerequisite that the movie is actually good. What movie do you genuinely think could succeed with a surprise musical sequel? I think the Crank series could actually do it.
Due to some convoluted circumstance, you're given the opportunity to give your respective co-host super powers. What would you give them and why?
When will James finally do another Do Go On report?
If you could move a Marvel character into the DC world, and a DC character into the Marvel world, who would you pick and why?
So, whose mannequin room is it?
Who owns and What the fuck is the “Doll room”?? You mentioned some one in your life has one and the thought hasn’t left my mind since .
*Maso’s tramlines* As ever, I enjoy picking-up what you’re podding down. Coventry in the UK where I live is building a tram-like light railway thing and people love to shit on the very idea despite the famously hideous road system. Anyway, would Maso like to review some tram clips? If that’s not a busman’s holiday… Jason Bourne kidnaps young woman | https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ah-U221fzxo The Melbourne Tram from Malcolm | https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWDt_Rmu9MQ "Citizen Tram" (1960s MMTB Film) | https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPh-WCdO0sc Wonka… I don’t know what’s going on here but there’s a tram | https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1bXzkBfB-zc Invading personal space | https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z684pf26hAg Spider Noire Prequel | https://ok.ru/video/259915451043 (time 1:38:19) Or does Mason have another favourite?
When first making the jump from podcasting to on screen appearances i.e in MUGG, did either of you suffer any stage fright and do you find how you project yourself changes when you know theres a camera on you?
What are some American made movies that would have been better if it were made or took place in Australia?
Why did you choose lady venom for the classique comique booque clubbe thumbnail?
What was the last movie that made you cry or elicited a genuine emotional response from you? Mine is the movie Wild Robot and I wept like a baby
Is there a niche character or story you'd like to see made that you know probably wont be, or if they do it'll be at liberty to changes like the Guardian of the Galaxy because of such small relevance? To me, its Plastic Man
What are some movies or tv shows that you guys are fiercely divided on?
Mason, I recently heard you tell of how you started dressing well after being ridiculed in high school once, and as someone who is known to just throw whatever on, what are some basic things a person can do to dress better?
Ignoring dead dogs & mannequin rooms for a moment, what is a film/TV show that you liked the idea of or concept of but was so poorly executed or fumbled at the end that you would like to see redone? Much love & thanks to you both x
You get asked to go on either the Criterion Closet or Arrow YouTube video - which are you going to do and what movies are you picking?
What is your favourite book/comic that is completely untouched by an adaptation?
I like this question
Horses walk on their middle toe, if humans evolved this way, would we still wear shoes?
Since there’s no broad topic. How are you both doing? Genuinely, everything alright?
What's the worst theatre experience either of you guys have had? Not specifically because of the movie but because of something that happened during the showing.
If you got dropped into pre-civilization times, what modern knowledge could you actually put to use? How far back in time could you go before your skills become completely useless?
gday. Event cinemas vs reading cinemas (dunno if you have them down there). Readings were always my go to as a teenager however Event cinemas have upped their game recently. Love the pod.
You boys have guests from time to time. Would you ever consider having John Batchelor, the guy who shouts Rodney in the show?
No
Hopefully i can sneak a superhero showdown here, who would win between Jesse Pinkman vs the drug addict guy from Weapons who is in the new Resident Evil?
How come u guys stopped doing the showdown episodes they were soo funny and fun !
If it was announced that Avengers Doomsday is actually a musical, al la Joker 2, would you still watch it?
What’s your most uncomfortable movie experience? In Australia the cinema is always ice cold with air conditioning, but I saw the new Superman in the UK in a heatwave and was sitting a pool of sweat the whole time (still a great movie)
How are you going?
What film or TV show has your opinion changed most about since you initially reviewed? Either something you disliked but now love… or vice versa. For example, the Star Wars prequels have definitely grown on me over the years. In hindsight, I think the expectation I had at their release was always going to be difficult to reach but I can now look at them more objectively.
Would you ever consider reviewing small movie? By which I mean movies outside of comic book movies, the latest big releases, and your usual fare like more indie movies, director/film maker stuff, etc. that you're interested in but wouldn't normally be Weekly Planet-coded. Maybe as a Big Sandwich exclusive?
Will you guys ever trade beards?
Will you do B Movies like Eight Legged Freaks, Deep Blue Sea? Will you continue the rest of the Jurassic Park / Jurassic World franchise? Will you finish all of the Alien and Predator franchises now that new films have released? Will you do horror movies like the Scream franchise?
How do you make sure the podcast audio doesn’t sound terrible? Where should I look to learn how to produce a podcast, and what kind of research do you do/what is your research/notetaking process for preparing for episodes?
Two questions: do you guys have any American podcasts or stand up comics you guys really like? If you are ever in the states, I think you guys would have a blast doing the “are you garbage” podcast. Whenever/if you guys ever have to go back and listen to a podcast or a video you just finished recording, how are you able to figure out who’s who? Also, mason… give James your phone or else you end up like one of those dogs. Thanks for making us laugh and love the Sean Connery impressions, especially in the Highlander commentary! Back to the boat boys!
Hi boys, no question just wanted to say please do more list based content, as your multi part list of pop cultures biggest things on one of the Big Sandwich podcasts was some of my favourite content Keep up the good work, or else
Obviously you guys have been friends for a long time. How has doing this show for all these years impacted or changed your friendship? Really love the show, it always makes me look forward to the start of the week. Cheers from Holland!
Heya, wondering if there are things that would make you skip or boycott a movie, or do you feel obligated to watch most movies for the pod? Recognising there are plenty of things that are subjectively controversial, like casting choices or studio decisions, but some things things like seem more objectively objectionable. For example, I skipped Tron Ares despite enjoying Legacy as Jared Leto was the star and I wasn't keen on supporting that.
What is the last piece of physical media that you purchased?
After Avengers Doomsday inevitably resets or kills off the multiverse, can we hold a funeral for the Guy Who Shouts Rodney? If the Fan4stic universe can die in a TVA graphic, I fear 2005 Man-Thing stands no chance. Justice for the Guy Who Shouts Rodney!!
Did you guys see the new incredible concert film/ documentary about Oasis? I remember you talking about them on the pod in the past, I’d highly recommend the movie.
Do you guys prefer Watchmen or V for Vendetta?
If you had to live as yourself inside a movie universe, which franchise would you choose?
Not particularly pop culture related but as someone who lives in regional NSW and is frequently envious of the live music scene in Melbourne im curious if either of you two see much live music? if so what have been some recent highlights?
I'm going to Melbourne in November, is there anything you suggest I check out? Note: I'm from WA
Hi James and Maso! I wanted to ask if there is ever a movie you would re-do a caravan of garbage for, and is that something you would ever consider doing?
Hi both - would love to know how the podcast is made? How do you plan your recordings and which COG you choose!
Have you read any of Jason Aaron's comics? If so what did you think of them and do you have a favourite? If you haven't instead can you answer who you think would win in a fight, a really really pissed off Joel Douscher or Doctor Manhattan?
Has Mason ever thought about rebranding to MrSaturdayMovies? That way you could change the podcast to the Weekend Planet for a fresh reinvention.
Also, who would last longest in an 'It Ends' situation if you guys were in a car with Broden, Mark & Zach?
Two to defend you, two to hunt you. Choose from 10,000 rats, 50 hawks, 5 gorillas, or 1 man with a gun.
Or the famous Marvel staple of the 1970's, an elf with a gun
Other Mommy looks like an interesting movie from the maker of lockdown horrors, HOST and DASHCAM which are found footage movies. Where did all the found footage movies go?
What is James' oldest and/or longest-lasting vendetta? Curious how he was wronged as a little bloke.
Grudges show tenacity and imagination. Great question.
Hello mates, have you heard the Garth Ennis crossed comics are getting a live action adaptation, is there any comics you think are too violent/rude for a faithful live action adaptation
How did you two meet? /s What is Maso’s ideal beard length, and does he condition it? If someone was going to visit Australia for the first time, where would you recommend going (anywhere in the country). What is your favourite country besides the Umbrella-verse under the facility?
Will you boys be watching the AFL grand final and do you observe wharfie time? And please tell me you’ve seen the surfing/snowboarding joker memes for the Batman part 2
What are your guys favourite and least favourite depictions of Australia or Australian culture in media?
How much are you getting from the Paramount - Warner acquisition?
Who are you guys must watch in cinema directors and has it changed over the years. Also hope you guys are ok
