Development Diary #5

Hey everyone!

Just wanted to let you know that we're getting pretty close to the 0.1 release!

Over the last two weeks I've set rendering and dialogue writing aside so I could focus entirely on finishing the code. The game's structure is now really scalable, which probably doesn't mean much to you (or almost nothing), but for me it was an essential step.

One of the biggest headaches during TGB's development was exactly this: the further I got into the story, the more frustrating it became to add new events and characters. With Figaro Hotel that problem is gone, and it's going to save me a huge amount of time.

On top of that, I've already implemented the Gallery (I wasn't even planning to have it in v0.1!) and the Affinity Menu. I've also added a content filter, so everyone will be able to enjoy the game exactly the way they want to.

So yeah... I'm really happy, because none of these features were planned for 0.1, and yet here we are!

The code is now 110% ready (which means less work for 0.2), and bug testing should be a lot easier from here on. I'm taking my time on purpose: I'd rather have you wait one extra month for 0.1 than release 0.2 three months after it. This is a long-term project, and my goal is a monthly update!

On a different note, I saw a few questions come up on Discord (I answered there too), but I want to address them here with all of you. Someone quite reasonably asked: since Figaro Hotel starts from scratch, how many months will it be before the NSFW scenes with Carla or Kate?

So, don't worry, the pacing of this game will be quite different from TGB, which means those scenes will arrive much sooner than you'd expect! There are no real NSFW scenes in 0.1, simply because there was already too much on my plate to squeeze them in right away.
But I'm confident 0.2 will come with some very nice surprises.

That said, I'll leave you with a few screenshots... and the next time I post here, it'll probably be because v0.1 is out.
