Why Sex Gods Won't Have a Scene Replay Gallery

I wanted to take a moment to talk about a feature some of you have requested: a gallery where you can watch scenes from the game whenever you want.

I understand the appeal! Having a gallery makes it easy to revisit your favorite scenes, but there's another aspect of this feature that I believe is worth considering: it also provides a way to access content without actually progressing through the game.

And that's where my concerns begin.

🎮 It's About More Than Convenience

This decision comes from my own experience as a player.

I've played other games that included scene galleries, and while I appreciated how convenient they were, I also noticed how they affected my motivation to play.

When you can access scenes directly through a gallery, it's tempting to skip the journey and go straight to the content you're interested in. You no longer need to explore, interact with characters, or progress through the story to discover what happens next.

And when the content you're looking forward to is already available at the click of a button, it can become harder to find the motivation to keep playing.

I've experienced this myself, and it's something I'd rather avoid with Sex Gods.

🔓 What If the Gallery Only Included Unlocked Scenes?

I know some of you might suggest a compromise: why not make the gallery available only for scenes you've already unlocked?

It's a reasonable suggestion, but I don't think it fully addresses my concerns.

In practice, having a scene gallery can also encourage requests for a cheat that unlocks every scene at once. And even without an official cheat, it can motivate modders to modify the game so that all scenes become available from the beginning.

To be clear, I'm not saying that everyone who wants a gallery would do these things, nor am I criticizing people for enjoying games differently.

My concern is that adding a scene gallery creates an easy path toward accessing the game's content without experiencing the progression designed around it.

Even if the original intention is simply to revisit favorite scenes, the feature can gradually become a shortcut to content that players would otherwise discover as they play.

And I'd prefer not to build a feature around that possibility when it goes against the experience I want Sex Gods to offer.

💜 The Journey Is Part of the Reward

For me, discovering new scenes should be part of the fun of playing Sex Gods.

Meeting characters, exploring the game, progressing through the story, and gradually unlocking new content are all important parts of that experience.

I want players to look forward to discovering what's next, rather than feel that playing the game is just a hurdle between them and the scenes they want to see.

Of course, everyone has their own preferences, and I understand that some players would rather have immediate access to everything. There's nothing wrong with that preference!

But as the developer, I have to decide which features best support the kind of game I want to create. In this case, I believe keeping scene discovery tied to gameplay is the better choice.
