A New PC - Odin!

Hello, Guapo's Team!

I am pleased to announce that I have built a new PC to enhance the speed of game development.

My previous setup, named Thor, encountered a limitation with its motherboard, which could not accommodate additional RAM. As a result, I decided to upgrade my system fully and created a new PC build, which I have named Odin. This new setup will significantly improve my workflow and efficiency in the development process.

Purchasing, constructing, transferring information, and installing the necessary software required an investment of approximately 3 to 5 days.

The updated stuff is:

  • CPU: from Ryzen 5 2600 to Ryzen 9 9950X

  • GPU: from GTX 1660 Ti to Geforce RTX 4080

  • RAM: from 2 cards of 8GB (total 16 GB) to 2 cards of 48GB (total 96 GB)

  • Case: from Rosewill Thor V2 to Corsair 6500X

  • Motherboard: from MSI B350 to MSI MPG X870E Carbon WiFi

  • Power source: from EVGA SuperNova 750 W to MSI MPG A1000G PCIE 5 & ATX 3.0 (1,000 W)

  • SSD: from SATA 525 GB to M.2 NVMe 2 TB

And some new extras:

  • Liquid cooler: Corsair iCUE H150i

  • Fans: 6 Corsair LL120 RGB (120 mm)

  • Gaming Keypad: Razer Tartarus Pro

  • Stream Deck: Elgato Stream Deck XL

Some improvements to my workflow will be:

  • Building the releases: When developing each game version, I must create builds for Windows x86, Windows x64, Android, Mac, Linux, and Web GL. This process took my old team between 1 and 2 days in the past, but now I  will complete it in less than a day.

  • Software performance: I encountered this issue while working on large projects in applications like MediBang and Spine, using multiple scripts in Visual Studio, and handling numerous drawings in MediBang. The problem arose because the software or my team would occasionally freeze due to insufficient RAM to support all these processes. As a result, I lost my progress more than once and had to start over from my last saved point.

  • Running multiple software: Now, I can run all the software I use simultaneously, which was impossible with my old team.

I felt compelled to share this exciting news with you all because this powerful setup I've built is a testament to your unwavering support. I really appreciate your believing in my work! Thank you so much!
