V 0.4 Status report...
As I promised, here's the first status report, which I will do every other day until I have the 0.4 version complete...
The animation that was halfway done has now been fully rendered. But I decided to change strategy and focus entirely on the code to catch up because I’m realizing it’s going to take longer than I initially thought.
Why? Because there’s a TON of dialogue, and I’ve changed my translation style. Now, I base it almost entirely on ChatGPT, with certain parameters I’ve set up, plus some manual corrections. That should give it a more natural feel.
This Wednesday (or almost Thursday really), I told you I was coding something related to the choice you will have to make, which will result in MC’s death (or not, it depends). The section of the code where MC doesn’t die had already been coded. I mean the scenes right after making that decision...
Well, that was around line 1150 or 1200, I didn’t check carefully at the time.
Right now, I’m on line 1800 of the code. It’s right at the point where the anonymous girl dies at the hands of the story’s villain. After that, I need to go back in time and code a "summary" version of that same scene for those who don’t want to watch that directly (it’s pretty harsh, the death of Sally was nothing, and that’s why I never thought about making it optional).
Doing a script check (developer option in RenPy), I see that right now the game has a total of 42,571 words, which means that version 0.4 already has more than 10,200 extra words. To put it in perspective, the previous version (the current 0.3) had 9,835 extra words (this is referring exclusively to dialogues).
Anyway, just because I’m working on the code doesn’t mean I won’t be letting things render while I sleep...
See you with the next report this Sunday.

Great to read you're on top of it! I am curious about the translation. You write the dialogue in Spanish and then translate it to English?
Yep, I almost always write by hand first, and obviously in my language (Spanish). Then I transfer it to a text file and tweak the details. When the time comes, I translate it on my own and/or with the help of a regular translator and/or ChatGPT.
