Decisions, decisions...

Hello.

On this occasion I want to touch on a delicate topic. Future polls regarding Eliminations...

If you have taken the time to read, you will know that in the future I will post some polls from time to time to define the course of various events within the game. That is, you will be able to freely choose between the type of elimination event and also a character who must participate by obligation in said event.

Now the technical aspects... As a result of choosing the type of event, I will have to render scenes and create dialogues in relation to the event chosen by you, with the characters that must participate due to low score and also the character chosen by you. At the end of the event, one of those 3 characters will be eliminated.

It's possible that some event requires the special participation of other extra characters, but those characters don't have the risk of being eliminated... Let me explain. For example, the event may be a soccer game. In that case, it would be necessary for there to be more people at the event because a soccer game with 3 people is not going to work. Finally, depending on the result of the match, one of the 3 previously chosen characters will be eliminated.

How is the outcome of the event decided?...

Variables... but...

Depending on the characteristics of each character participating in the event, the balance will tilt to one side or the other. The case of Jordan, for example. Jordan is a professional Soccer player so he has a good chance of not being eliminated in an event of this type. Same with Casandra. She knows how to fight, she is a Blue belt in martial arts, so in a normal fight she has the chance to win against someone with little fighting experience. But every event also depends partly on chance. Casandra could at some point lose in a fight against an inferior opponent.

With RenPy it's easy to assign variables and decide things based on Random and those variables... But, there is a big but.

I'm not saying it is, but if it turns out that Casandra is a key character in the development of the story, I simply can't let her be eliminated. In a game of this type, if there is a story that must be followed, it's completely impossible to leave all control to random events. You will never know with certainty which characters are essential, but I know and that is why, deep down, there is no real choice. Because it depends exclusively on me if I let a character be eliminated or not...

Some may be able to lie in a situation like this, and tell their followers that they will be in control of everything. But I'm not that guy. Honesty above all. You will have freedom of choice. But it will happen that sometimes, no matter how hard you try, a character will not be eliminated.

And that's also partly because I can't let this become a "multiverse" out of my control. Each death or non-death opens new paths that I must render and to which I have to add dialogue, more variables, sound, music... By obligation, each new path must have at least two sets of EVERYTHING, because there is a reality within the game where the character exists and another where the same character does not exist... It would be something impossible to do if I gave up all control.

In any case, I have curious news for you. MC is not impossible to eliminate from the competition. If MC is eliminated the game will have to end Abruptly. It's one of the possible endings and it can happen at any time from almost the end of the first day onwards. Obviously my work will continue because that is just one of the possible endings. And at the moment I have 5 different endings planned. So in summary. MC can be eliminated from competition as a result of failing an elimination event (in the end that can be the fault of the results of the votes that you will do here), or he can be eliminated due to low-scoring problems, which would select him for elimination competition immediately, and if he loses the competition, then "bye-bye" MC. And finally, there is the possibility that you make a bad decision and MC is immediately eliminated, as already happened with a certain character...

As a result of the random factor, the outcome of competitions may vary each time a new game is started. That is, you play once, character X is eliminated. New game, you play making the same decisions, the time comes for the same competition where X was eliminated in your previous game, but this time X is not eliminated.

That is for the moment. As always, if you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask. Thanks and see you later.

Hey dude, I wrapped up the 0.1 of your game and I have to say, it's different from anything I've seen! It's not all about in-your-face explicit stuff like so many out there. I'm digging every character and I'm down to lend a hand going forward. Keep at it – your project's got serious potential!

Well, the game will literally last 30 days, so it can't be something "in your face" that loses its appeal immediately. It must contain a story and have just the right amount of "hot" situations. There is always the risk that some will consider that you went to the opposite side and find everything very slow, but this is like life itself and for me it is better to maintain some suspense than to have everything on a plate immediately. Thank you for your comments and for your support.
