The Incredible Hawk

Nobody…and I mean nobody…got screwed over in James Gunn’s Superman more than Hawkgirl. If you know the DC universe, then you know Hawkgirl is a Thanagarian, one of the most badass races in the universe.  They are like if the Klingons and the Vikings were merged into super race of warriors with wings. And Hawkgirl brings all that. A sort of 'smash first and ask questions later' type, she can—and has—given Wonder Woman a run for her money. So who did Gunn cast in this role? A 5-foot-nothing chick with the upper body strength of a parakeet. Dafuq?!

And yes, I know. DC comics throws out versions of Hawkgirl/woman the way Batman throws out batarangs. Feather wings, metal wings…all the past lives and future offspring. It’s a bit confusing. But they have always been pretty great characters.  My favorite? Good ol’ Shiera Hall.  Although I suspect Gunn’s film version was Kendra Saunders, since she was played by a Latina (although somehow he found the only Latina in Hollywood with a flat ass).
